So, so many offensive statements by 2021 standards in your comment.

1. Indigenous, not Indian
2. shouldnt even mention indigenous because you are talking about a violent act of shooting at something or someone & therefore it is an offensive cultural statement
3. Marksmen should be Marksperson or Marks she/her he/him'
4. Shotgun is a offensive word, should have used Masters in Social Work in place of shotgun
5. shouldnt encourage makeup on a pig as you cant get consent or know how the pig identifies.

I assumed the OP envisions doing better than just OK, and considers himself a business owner, rather than an employee of the "telesales outfit". As such, he would dictate to them the states in which he is licensed, rather than be told.
When I read his post, I immediately assumed he had a plan to grow his business nationwide and market in 40+ states. If it makes sense for an insurance company to be licensed and market in over 40 states, why would the same be senseless for the OP who has a vision?

The insurance company is not just one person manning the phones. They have 100s or even 1000s of agents. If the OP is going to recruit big time, it may make sense to be licensed in 40-50 states. However, if he is going to produce only with his own "pen", then the 20 he has should be more than enough to keep him busy.

was this an error in judgement? probably. blame it on covid brain fog?,, though I dont have covid.
I should have told the call centers." you do zero with 20 states,, will you do double zero with 40?"
A few points:
the 20 states are easily affordable
I can use/ need the expense for taxes
Might be useful for supps and advantage.
Calls came in double today with the additional states. ( ap too)

If able to do over,, I'd stay at 20... too late , not a catastrophe..

Stop apologizing for running your business how you see fit. None of us pay your bills or contribute to your income. If you received double the calls, the only reason you should feel bad is if you watched it ring all day, instead of answering it!

That said, I hope the addition of those 20 states makes your 2021 enjoyable and profitable.
