Who else Got an Ipad for Christmas and How Will You Use It?

Man, my son and I play all those games and sure, it would be great on a larger screen...but $500 to play Angry Birds? Not today.

I couldn't pull the trigger - went It's very telling about how we spend our money nowadays when we're foaming at the mouth to buy something for $500 that doesn't do anything.

Have you tried to read USA Today...Insurance Journel...or anything else for any length of time on your Iphone? Try it on an Ipad and tell me it doesn't do anything...

The IPad...is much easier to read articles on...view PDF's. I could do it on my computer at home but why...if I can use my Ipad. I would say my home computer soon is the thing that can't do anything. And yes you can print from your Ipad...or Iphone if you want to...you just send it to a network computer. Sorry but I can think of manythings that I have wasted over $500 on...but the Ipad isn't one of them.

AND yes SIZE does matter!

Hang on. First of all the ipad's not portable. I can't put it in my pocket when I'm out and about. So it's basically home use.

When I'm at home why would I want to view USA today on the ipad when I can view it on my laptop? That's a bigger screen that plays flash videos.

I also have my computer connected to my tv so I can hit the recliner, grab a beer and view it all on my 55". Kinda beats the ipad.

Now, that said, it would be great when I'm out on the deck but I'm going to wait 8 more month when Apple releases the iPAD version 8.

Remember, I'm the sucker who bought the iphone 3g....then the 3gs came out. But wait...there's more. The 4g came out with new updates not supported by my 3g. Apple can bite me.

Just wait until the ipad 3.0 comes out that does 10X what your ipad does but your ipad won't support the update.

How is it not portable? Your laptop is portable isn't it? I am not trying to come across as a jerk here but I see a laptop as worthless for me...(still have one...make that two that I don't use) I would much rather use the desktop for what I do or the Ipad...

Same thing happened to me. Got my I phone...next thing the I phone 3G came out...waited bought a 3gs...and what happened Iphone 4? Can't win.

But so what buy a laptop, or a computer today...it is outdated tomorrow. Technology isn't it great.

Name a single thing (besides touch screen) my old computer can't do? I couldn't use all of my memory if I tried, it's only as fast as my internet connection, etc..It's not like I have to buy a new computer to print, play videos, video conference. But you'll have to keep buying new ipads to do all of that.

The truth is I could use this computer for the next 15 years and be just fine - yet my iphone was toast months after buying it.

Your Iphone wasn't toast. It just doesn't do some of the things the new ones do. I know someone who uses the original Iphone...my old one. They use it everyday and it works fine. So for you to say it was toast is not true.

As far as you using your laptop for the next 15 years that is doubtful...maybe you could if it last that long. As far as naming something that your laptop can't do well that is hard...I have no idea what type of laptop that you have? But here I will take a stab at it... Do you have a 3D screen? Bet you don't...So one thing your laptop can't do is play 3D movies! Everything becomes outdated there is always a newer better thing…

Look we could go on and on regarding this. This is personal preference I like the Ipad...I love my Iphone...I find using a laptop pointless...I spend most of my time behind a desk so I use a desktop. If I want to check emails on the road or when I am out of the office I can do it from my Iphone...but if I am at home I prefer to check emails from the ipad many reasons but main thing larger screen, easier to read when reading vs the iphone screen.

No big deal different strokes for different folks as they say! Just wondering what part of MD are you in? I am on the Eastern Shore.

The lack of flash support is a major problem that annoys me daily on the Ipad.

You can download Skype and other apps and use it make phone calls...

Geez, I didn't know there are TV screens that are larger than 19" and color no less! Size does matter.
