Who else is Getting Screwed by Lead Companies?

It makes me sick to see how many agents are getting screwed by lead companies. Especially companies that generate leads on the internet. These leads are getting sold to multiple different agents. Has anyone found a company that generates leads and distributes them ethically? Preferably one that doesn't generate internet leads?

I think a better topic of your thread may have been,

"Who Hasn't Gotten Screwed by a Lead Company."

However, you probably would not have gotten any responses to this thread if that was the title.

Well, let's see. I've been listening to your conference call now for 44 minutes and I'm still waiting for you to get to the point!

:D:D:D

I've been screwed, but I also do fairly well with a couple I currently use. There is nothing special about them and they are commonly batted around here on the forum.

They sell to a handful of agents and the first to call generally gets the appt. I close a third of the leads I pay for. If you don't call first, you don't get the appt. If you don't get the appt...

The leads are filler. I don't have the demographics to make a living off of Internet leads, but they add to what I do with referrals, mailings, etc. If anyone is able to make a living off of internet leads, great, but they are just another source of several for me, so my expectations are not as high as some.

Some of the lead companies are just thieves. I have one I gave $200 months ago and not a single lead. Now that I reminded myself, I am going to call them and tell them what thieves they are ;)

I buy internet individual health insurance leads.

Granted, not as many as some, but I enjoy a 6 to 1 (600%) return on my investment.

Screw me some more.

I never figured it that way, but I make that kind of return too, and I get screwed. Not a bad deal. I feel kind of nasty. :1wink:

I had an appt. yesterday from a lead and my customer got called by 15, yes I said 15 agents within an hour!! Thank you prospect zone, I also asked client if she went to more than one site, she said, only to one.

That's about a 10% closing ratio. I'd say that is about right for a skilled tele-sales person with shared leads.

You can make money with leads.

I think the problem is most don't have the stomach or resources to invest in them for 3-6 months to start to see the returns. It looks like you are loosing for a long time before you start winning.

Leads are not my preferred method to obtain business, but I always keep some coming in for good measure.

Their leads actually come out to a strong ROI for me personally, counting their EXTREMELY generous return policy. They'll take it back for almost any issue. That's not true with most other companies.

I do not buy leads from a lead company. Too many distribution channels and upset customers. What I have done is set up a website tailored to exactly my flavor of the month, spend the money on google ad words and yahoo, and get my own leads. Yes, you will have to spend more at first, however, the roi will be well worth it. I spend about $500 a month, get approx 75 leads, close 30 to 35. I can spend $500 with a lead company and get 1000 leads and close 1. Just a thought.
