Why Do Captives Have Much More Restrictive Underwriting?

We might want to quantify "when" twilight had his experience with Met I seem to remember he has been around for a while he might go back to Mets mutual days and let's not forget most of those carriers made bank with industrial policies in the day so layering small policies on each other was something that happened.

All valid points. Im not saying that his experiences are untrue. Obviously twilight is no *** when it comes to insurance, and certainly has been around the block more times than I have.
It happened and still happens today. Sometimes, you even have clients that just force you to do it that way because they will not commit to a large amount at once.

I guess I just disagree with his statement of "to be successful as a Captive Agent you must layer policies" as it relates to today's market (the last decade), in the mutual world.

But that disagreement is based purely on my own experiences within the captive industry. And Im sure it still goes on in offices of all carriers to at least some extent.
