Why Do So Many Agents Want to Sell Final Expense?

as a client of an agent on this board once said to me" I don't want them to throw me in the river."

I'll have to use that one.... You don't want your family to toss you in the river, do ya? Cause that other insurance agent who lives in a van down by the river, just might fish you out so he can have someone to keep him company.

telling you honestly since I am new on this forum and in this field,I have no idea, but right now after reading your post it does makes sense.

It's a door opener. Final expense policies are cheap, and allow you to get in and talk about all the other goody products you offer. Getting them to let you in to talk about a 10K term policy is cake., Asking for them to invest in annuity products on the other hand...well, you'de need to get in the door first.

A company I used to work for AIL, used a freebie accident insurance policy (worth I think 1000.00) to get you in the door. Again, a door opener. It works though :)

FE is cheap? What FE are you looking at?

I have been in the final expense business for about 4 years. I'm glad alot of people have the mentality presented here.

Selling to seniors is like selling to anyone. Its all about ethics. I dont sell anything to anyone when I know they cant afford it.

The economy is in bad shape. Its the working class people effected by the economy and seniors, who are mainly on a fixed income are doing everything in their power to take care of the burden their death could cause.
Over the past year, while others are having such a hard time making ends meet, my business is exploding.
Im averaging about 6000.00 weekly Ap with my system. Anyone want information? email me at [email protected]

LMAO, wow, I wonder how long their jaw will be on the floor before they cry or pull out their shot gun...
Apparently it is a real fear for a lot of seniors, though who waited too long to get insurance. They think about things like the river drop or being in a cardboard box... it's sad.

lol, cardboard box.

"Well, I guess your family could always find an old refrigerator box to put you in and drop it in an alley behind skid row...."

"On the other hand, you could always get $4 a day if you just stand on the corner with sign asking for salvation."

$4? Did you ever see that 20/20 or 48 hours interview with those "homeless" people in Philadelphia who were raking in over 250k a year panhandling? They got busted for tax evasion and welfare fraud, I think... It was a while ago but holy crap it peeved me off!

A refrigerator box, lmao, most people up North just toss them in the Atlantic or the Hudson river but skid row works, too!

Question for all the Final Expense Pros:

I have a phone call with a former pro boxer who won 2 world titlles (Tommy "hit man" Hearns) and he is interested in getting in the insurance business and more specifically Final Expense.

My thoughts were to let him endorse the product or put his picture and endorsement on the lead cards. Since a lot of the people that buy final expense may be in the inner cities I would think that many of these clients would know who he was and all things equal choose his lead versus another.

First Question: Would you think his celebrity would help in response rates and credibility?

2nd Question: Would any of you want to work in a system where he was the brand behind the system?

I would think that he would DEFINITELY want to brand himself and it would absolutely open doors for him.

I don't think it would do all that much for other agents to market with his name. I could be wrong though. Fran Tarkenton does it successfully with annuities.
