Witch-hunt Shaping Up Bigtime

Nasty, nasty witch hunt shaping up. This is all about finding executive salaries/bonuses and putting them out there while the various bills are on the floor to tap into the AIG type rage. Truthfully, I think it will work for the dems fairly well, short-term. It will be a public media bonanza. Problem is, they have crossed the line where the carriers and the pharms and the docs who have supported reform have to fight back now. You can't have it both ways. Good luck to them with this. It is going to get nasty.

Side note to the libs here. Much of what Congress may want to look at is fair game and necessary for both lawmakers and the public to be reviewing and I am not saying otherwise. However, no one (and I mean libs especially) doubt why timing is what it is.

As discussed as nauseum, if Barry did not nail a bill down before August, it would all blow up in his face when the lawmakers got home. Wow, has it ever. And Waxman the Mouse thinks he and Pelosi are going to wipe their asses on Batman's cape by smearing carriers and with-hunting them and they are not going to fight back? Yeh. right.

I've got the popcorn and the cigars as I'm not allowed to drink and stay married anymore ...
God I love this.

Nope, he had 3 speeches today.

Man, Obama is a narcissist. He probably watches himself giving speeches in his spare time.

Yeh. Part of it is that he does extremely well out on the campaign trail so when the going gets tough he starts doing the only thing he does well. Problem is, different skills are needed now. He came up with the cockamamy idea of having town halls because he does extremely well there. However it has been a disaster for all his cohorts who have been forced into that exercise.

They say that if the only tool you have in your tool box is a hammer, then all your problems start looking like nails. Similarly, the messiah does well out campaigning so every problem needs to be one that can be addressed by giving three speeches a day. Meanwhile we have both an economic stimulus package and a health care legislative process that are currently in the dumpster. But hey, maybe he can go out to Cutbank, Montana and speak to the Elks Club if he hasnt been there already.

I wonder how many of the carriers will buck the inquest...

Basically what they are asking for is not part of the regulatory process. Any part that is has to be requested through the regulatory channels. Even if they feel compelled to provide the information it could be a nice time for the carriers to play pay back by dragging their feet for months on end compiling the "request".

The Whitehouse has no idea the magnitude of the sleeping giant they are prodding in the insurance industry. Hillary could tell them, but I sense that they aren't willing to listen... :nah:

Ahhh....ummm. I am not as sure about this as I was in yesterday's (last year's) economy and America. Things have changed considerably. As they say, elections matter.

In the socialist view (and in actual practice as we are seeing), it is not just an insurance or financial regulation matter. Obama and Geithner and Barney etc hold the view that any publicly held company is now subject to having its executive compensation pratices reviewed and regulated. This is done under the guise of shareholder protection rather than financial regulation although, of course, once the info has been obtained legally for one purpose it can be used as a weapon by any who are looking for weapons.

It was the normal, 100% predictable outcome of the government takeover of various industries. Everyone agrees that when the government is a shareholder it has certain rights to review and regulate executive compensation. Then three months later you just extend that oversight to all publicly held companies.

Seriously. What the frig did we expect once they started down that road?

And at the other end of the insurance spectrum, Obamaville is using consumer protection laws rather than state or federal financial regulatory power to implement certain changes and intervention.

Change you can believe in.

I wish the industry would come out with more "history based" infomercials.

Fact: When the AL. gov tried to over regulate the insurance industry in the 90's almost every carrier exited the state within 30 days.

Fact: Everytime regulators force insurance carriers to provide more benefits through STATE MANDATES your premiums go up, plans get changed, or companies exit the market. We cover your main concerns: Life sustaining care, huge medical bills, etc. When we're forced to pay for your check-up, eye glasses, and other non-life-threatening issues we have no choice but to recoup that cost elsewhere.

Fact: If providers were protected from the silly law suit crazy society that is America then doctors wouldn't feel compelled to do "preventative medicine".
Preventative medicine is medicine done solely to prevent lawsuits. They have to run every test possible because god forbid they miss something and get sued. Doing a cat scan because you have a headache is silly... don'tcha think?
