And I read specimen policies for everything I sell. The brochure really has little to do with the actual benefits.

For example, you can sell CI and think "well if my client has a heart attack they get the benefit." That would be incorrect. They would have to meet criteria outlined in the policy to qualify even if they had a heart attack.

Same with cancer - "my client got diagnosed with cancer so thank God they have a cancer benefit." Maybe, maybe not. The fine print will state the types of cancer that's eligible on top the the diagnosis.

I've had some carriers try to play hardball with me in the past stating they won't send me specimen policies. Let's just leave it at this; I have a policy for everything I sell.
