💀 Medicare and Social Security Insolvency 💀

Wow! You guy's get your undies in a wad up in hear like the FEX folks...

All I know is that the media was trusted to get the election right... sooo I guess we should also trust them to get Trump's leadership pics and policy directions correct as well.

Keep drinking the kool-aid... a logical position for illogical thinking people.
Who are you referring to?

Way off on MAPD. Overall it’s about 2/3 external and 1/3 other. It wasn’t long ago that Humana said on an earnings call that just shy of half all sales came just from the big call center brokers.
That’s not what over read many times . I’m talking independent agents not call center agents

Call centers are just an agent and NMO/IMO rolled into one
but more expensive for the carrier, both in terms of total money (incl soft dollars) and churn related waste. Not everything is public and easily read.

Once they realize the subsidies to run these programs are QT coming into effect watch how comp structures change. Agents have made massive profits off MAPD since 2000. No complaints. But when carriers are already doing customer service bc beneficiaries still call the 1 800 number on card they service all of them. This will set off the bean counters and say why are we paying agents when telesales can be done cheap right in house and get comp and cut 3/4s of these commissions overhead to brokers. They already put a fork in dental plans from brokers bc they throw free 1,000.00 dental now.

Its common sense this era of the broker is going bak to carrier agents. Im seeing it happen w my book of business. They are eager to re-enroll folks in a different plan when they call in asking questions.

I fought numerous times but then they changed the AOR rules. So I said Im not selling this product only take care of last of book biz . I see an end coming to the small fry broker.
This has been said/predicted for 20 years. Insurance agents aren’t going anywhere. Neither are MAPD and MSUPs. I agree that agents need to be nimble if any one product falls out of favor. That’s been true for 20 years, too.

I’ll add that carriers aren’t suddenly going to get good at direct to consumer sales and marketing, either.

I read through a few of the posts, and not really sure about some of the assumptions, particularly about huffing paint. I didn't even know that was a thing nowadays.

I think appointing Dr. Oz is very strange. He's a Doctor and an entertainer. I'm sure there are many people way more qualified to be the head of a complex bureaucratic organization.

So far, it looks like the cabinet picks, and other presidential appointees are made for TV. I guess his admin is going to be something like watching the Apprentice.
The fact that someone happened to be on TV doesn't take away from the fact that they are also a competent professional at their job. Are there people that are more qualified out there? I'm sure there are. You could say that for any open job, but you have to find them, and also be personally compatible with them. Trump already knew him, has a great personal relationship with him, and they see things similarly. That's extremely important. At the end of the day, he is still extremely qualified for the position he was hired for.

Long read, but here are his qualifications......

"Dr. Oz earned the nomination of the Pennsylvania Republican party for the U.S. Senate in 2022. I think pretty much no one would read that and go "Oh this guy is totally not qualified!" It's not like he's some quack fake TV doctor. He is extremely legit and very much qualified.

yes but the fact that he had the low morals to sell snake oil to peeps who trusted him disqualifies him for leadership position IMO - even if wasn't a friggin doctor .being a doctor makes it 10 times worse

Wrong. They have endless dollars for marketing and already have plenty of ammo for sales too. WTF are you talkn bout. 20 years has been a good run while interest rates have been 0% for a decade. Shit đŸ’© is hitting the fan and the last twi years are coming to fruition. Bankruptcies layoffs mortgage delinquencies. Its all here.
I’ll agree with this and Medicare waa is wrong . The reason I know this is uhc has blanketed my areas with mailers and I’ve gotten 40 calls from clients do they need to call . All these older people on Facebook now and respond to ads . United can take 1/3 those commission savings and blanket advertise all aep
