$100 Per App for PCIP - Whooppie!

The broker section on PCIP still says October. I really doubt we will see any comp before then and anyone who is a registered Republican will probably never be approved as a PCIP agent.

Rut-roh. Not that we would pay the bills with PCIP anyway.
:1err:

Improve your odds. Don't register with either party. Keep them guessing.

I think you are right. In the last prez election, I didn't want to wait in the long line so I voted absentee (was a suggestion of the volunteer at the polling place). Anyway, I marked Repub in the box, and somehow, my vote got "lost". Had to go back to the polling place at the last minute and swear by affidavit that I wasn't voting twice.

PCIP begins broker referral payment program
The federally administered Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) soon will begin paying a $100 referral fee for qualified referrals submitted by registered brokers. The referral program will be effective on September 1, 2011.It's simple to participate in the program:
1. Register as a participating broker. Be sure to have your National Producer Number (NPN) handy.
2. Set up your online broker account.
3. Accept the terms and conditions for participation in the PCIP Broker Payment Program.
4. Start submitting qualified referral forms online for each applicant you help apply for PCIP.The program is for the states* where PCIP is provided by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and administered by GEHA. States that run their own programs for people with pre-existing conditions may also pay broker referral fees. Go to www.pcip.gov/StatePlans.html and click on a state's name to learn more about its arrangements.

Other items of note:
1. Referral fees for each qualified enrollee are paid only by electronic transfer.
2. The applicant must pay his or her first monthly premium within 30 days of approval notice to activate coverage. If payment is not received on time, the application will be canceled and the broker will not receive a referral fee.

Have questions? You can contact the PCIP Broker Communications Specialist with all of your registration and payment questions. You can call toll-free (877) 872-7890 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday, or you can email [email protected].

*HHS provides PCIP services in the District of Columbia and these states: Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.

HHS decided to pay licensed brokers $100 per applicant for enrollment in the PCIP in the 23 states where the Federal government is running the high risk pool. Currently they pay $0 in these states.

NAHU Washington Update - 05/31/2011

Maybe there is meaning here: if they realized they need help enrolling people, they realized the "helpers" need to get paid. Wait til they find out that they need "more help" if agents to not participate "fully" in "helping out". They would have to raise the 'ENROLLMENT FEE". Hey people......just don't help them.

I doubt they will raise the enrollment fee. Based on what they have done so far they will simply lower the rates another 40%.
