Contact your marketer to get a real time number and to find out about the prorated deal if they have one.

My marketer?? U mean EFES? Ok I will, but im sure if its prorated, its at least 1/2 the normal requirement...and thats still 45k.

Yes. That's another thing.

I'm going to start putting my business strategically with a few carriers to qualify conventions.

I'd like to do Oxford's next year, and maybe AmAm's or Monumental's, depending on the requirements.

But, bottom line, like last year, while hitting 300 lives is important, I'm a big believer in sticking to day-to-day behavioral tracking, specifically keeping count of the number of appointments I complete each week.

All who've sold anything know some weeks/months are better than others, but if you stick to the activities diligently, week-in and week-out, you'll hit your numerical/annualized premium goals.

Tip.

Take your production (or income) goals and work backwards to develop activity goals.

If you must see 20 people a week to write 15 apps, and you know that 15 apps will equal $600 each in compensation, then set your activity level accordingly. In doing so you are less likely to become discouraged if you have a bad sales week.

I have worked alone since 2001. For 2013, I am hiring two junior planners and possibly bringing in a good friend from VA who has 42 years in the biz. We will be focused on faith based planning of which I am going through a Stewardship program now in order to teach certain material. We are pretty excited about expanding our practice. Life Insurance goal is 200 AP along with 200 GDC for myself and 400/400 for the firm in 2013.

Who is seeing 20 ppl a week... let alone writing 15 apps in that same week? Maybe one out of 50K agents? These numbers sound good and certainly many could do this one week, maybe two, but not sustainable over the period of a year for most. Plus many do not want to work that hard either... dang, 20 appts a week that is pulling into the driveway of 1000 homes in a year. I would get leg cramps just doing that much stop and go driving at my age.

What I have found for goal setting is 'Realistic Goals' make for attainable goals. Set goals that you can and will meet, then revise your goals upward from there. Setting such a sky high goal that most likely will not be obtained is counter productive... [I think I heard Zig Zigler say that 30 yrs ago - RIP Zig].

I agree. 20 Appointments can be done working 6 days a week, 12-14 hours a day.

How long you'd last before your wife leaves you and takes half of your earnings with her... now that's the question...

You are missing the point.

The point is, take your goal and break it down into the activity at your current levels that you would need to do to hit the goal. It also serves to validate if the goal is obtainable. If a 10% increase in AP per app or a 10% increase in closing percentage gets you there then it might be obtainable. If you have to double your AP per app and double your number of sales, then it probably isn't doable and you need a new goal.

Also, once you have done it, now you know what to focus on each week. How much activity you need to do to reach your goal for the year.

My goal is to sell more insurance than Senior Advisor Indiana. I think I have an appointment set up for January 7. If I sell the policy there is no way SAI can catch up.

Not true. I have one couple that has been putting me off for 7 years. I am meeting with them on Jan 7th also. IT will take me 11 months to let my brain rest so you will at least have to sell 3.
