I 100% agree that there will always be a place for the F2F FE agent. You will always be able to doorknock and even set appointments. However, I believe the times are changing and the FE telesales agent per capita is growing. I feel that 2019 will see an explosive growth in Indy agents selling FE is over the phone.

What are your thoughts?

Any particular reason? Selling by phone was huge in the 80s and into the 90s for brokers, but now it's mostly outdated in the investment market. People would build their practice little by little with small 50-100k trades over the phone, gain a client, and get the big stuff later. Wish that model was still practical.

I see lots of indy agents wanting to pursue telesales, and there may well be an "explosion", as you suggest. But I have a feeling that an "implosion" will follow in 2020 when most of those agents realize that telesales is a lot tougher than they expected.

I agree with your thought. I turn away a lot of agents that are looking for an "easy" way to sell. The reality is telesales is difficult to grasp but can def be done. Just need to go in with the right expectation.

Two reasons but they both feed off each other.

#1 Popularity. The fact that FE telesales can work will spark a lot of people to test the waters. I feel agents are becoming more and more receptive to the idea.

#2 F2F agent model being more difficult/ competitive/ expensive.

There's plenty of people who already do they just don't specifically focus on FE.

I have heard of some but haven't found many. I am always intrigued to hear what other organizations are doing . Some are complete jokes and others are very impressive.

I know everyone has there own opinion on telesales, but the reality is if you can sell F2F you can sell over the phone. But, telesales is a different ball game the leads are cheaper but you typically need to buy 5x more than what you would you buy for F2F and be comfortable not talking to 30-40% of them.

100%.

All the myths being spread by f2f uplines are being busted.

Myth: You can't sell FE over the phone.

Completely proven wrong by so many agents and agencies in 2018. I personally know an independent agent that wrote over $700k in FE premium on his own - all over the phone with high persistency. I work with many others writing $20k+ monthly from their home offices.

Myth: Persistency is terrible. If you sell correctly, it's no worse than f2f FE sales.

There's too many successful FE telesales agents created in the independent channel in 2018 to continue spreading these myths. Which I believe will allow more agents to gravitate to telesales.

In 2018 we all saw Facebook generated leads become popular in the f2f FE channel and seen as a viable way to grow an agents business. The fact that online marketing is now being embraced by the f2f world that's been primarily direct mail leads me to believe telesales will be embraced in 2019.

If you're still a skeptic and want to connect with other telesales agents and learn some best practices, join these 2 Facebook Groups with a bunch of successful FE telesales agents/agencies willing to help.
