58 MNT Afib, Anybody Do Level?

So I meet with the guy yesterday. He has very complete papers on everything from his Medical records to his articles of incorporation for his ministry ran pawn shop. As well as his wife's green card status etc. After reading about RNA and Foresters able to approve him level and also calling them both and getting an aok from each a head of the PHI calls. I decided to go with Foresters as I haven't used them in several months and he wanted 35K. During the phi Foresters and RNA both asked him twice if he had smoked within the last year. He claims to be he hasn't smoked in about ten years. They also both reread the questions about Cardiomyopathy twice to him, which he denied both times. He stated his medical records from his last visit, which I read as well, stated he was being treated for AFIB. Both RNA and Foresters turned him down. If I had gone with my original gut feeling I would have just wrote him up graded and he would have been happy, but now he is perturbed because level is not panning out, which I planted the seed would be available. He wants a copy of his MIB before he will write it graded. I messed up, which I hate it when it happens. The RNA call took a good 35 minutes. His medical report from his last visit clearly states he was treated for AFIB, successfully, and also states his heart meds are for blood pressure.

With foresters you have to look at their medication list, it's pretty straight forward, it will tell you if level or not.

Sounds like there is a Medication that triggered the Issues with them. Most likely a drug used for Cardiomyopathy, Angina or CHF (Coreg). Coreg is OK with both companies if used for HBP.

Foresters can be picky with combination of certain drugs with Coreg.

List the Drugs and we can help you further with that.

I have been in this situation many a times before. Yes you did mess up a little. Should have never told him level. You will not make that mistake again. Try to graded and if it comes back at level he would have been happy. Clearly in your situation one of 2 things are present. Either one,he lied or forgot, or two the MIB is wrong. I would bet the farm he is lying/forgot. Besides the chances of changing the MIB are non existent. I have dealt with this a few times and not once has MIB changed. Either the insured forgot, lied, or was not told by his or her doctor.

So what do you do? Here is what I have done and it has always worked. I was told by another agent and she assured me it would work. So I tried it and yes! It does work better as a female and this is why. Unless you are male dealing with a female client. You tell him lets sit and talk. You hold his hand, look into his eyes and say "I am deeply sorry you do not qualify for level coverage due to your condition, and I have never seen a mistake with the MIB". "Its possible one of your doctors over the years did not tell you." Then let go of his hand.

Then you re-explain why he wanted life insurance in the first place, almost re-selling.It is time consuming but it works. Maybe if he is a male and you are male maybe not hold his hand lol, but just be frank with him. If he or she is unwilling to do at that point, move on, simple as that. Time is money and no point wasting time when no sale can be made. But like I said it has always worked for me. I really believe they are so thrown off by my sales tactics that they see you like a friend/mentor. As opposed to a salesperson.

Now I see why you go straight to gerber.

Look, first of all it is not your fault this deadbeat has health issues nor is it your fault he is either a liar or forgot or both, Id side with liar if Im a betting man. Nevertheless, for him to get irritated is funny. You are trying to help the dimwit. I would have told him look dude, I was trying to get you first day coverage out of the gate, turns out you dont qualify, not my fault, not your fault, not Foresters or RNAs fault, it is what it is. I can still get you first day coverage with another carrier, would you like to move forward or sit and stew like a 5 year old, die and screw your family? Its up to you Jack. Im just here to help. Then shut up. Whatever he says next will determine if he is even worth fooling with, your time is valuable, dont waste it on morons.

And for the record, you really didnt screw up, you just have to be a little more careful on playing the first day coverage card. Ease into it but I always tend to be a little more conservative until the phi is complete.

When we first spoke on the phone about a week ago he had already been turned down by State Farm. He was then referred to me. On the phone when we scheduled the interview we spoke about all his meds and ailments etc. At that time I explained to him the difference between level graded and modified. I expected him to have to settle for graded. After I posted this thread and called RNA and Foresters it appeared as if he could get level.

When I showed up for his appointment he started walking me around his ministry store and he was complaining about tight money etc. It sounded to me like he was making excuses for not being able to afford life insurance. So I then pushed the fact that were very fortunate to get level etc.

I have his last Dr's. statement dated 4/12/15. It says he takes the following

atorvastatin 20mg

Coreg 6.25 - just started with no refills for Atrial Fibrillation with controlled ventricular response

lisinipril 5mg

Plavix 75 mg

He has never had a stroke and the DR told him to come back in a year, which is in writing.

FTR I am not the hand holding kind of guy, unless I am trying to get laid or something very similar.

LOl that is pretty funny and also a little true!

I am 90% sure I will get the guy but I should have left with a graded app in hand. I did write 25K on his wife. This guy is also not your typical FE buyer. Very well educated and organized. He has all his medical records over the past ten years etc. When I sensed he was making excused for not being able to buy I started selling the benefit of Level. That was where I got weak.
