ACA Loopholes

It's really easy to avoid the penalty, here are some options:
-Become incarcerated
-Denounce citizenship/ don't be "lawfully present" in the US
-"Earn nothing" (for tax filing purposes anyway).
-Prove a hardship (show you were homeless, show unpaid utility bill, file for bankruptcy, live somewhere that a natural disaster ruined your property, get evicted, etc.)

Not so much a loophole, but those are the only exceptions one can easily make use of by the end of the year. It's not that hard to get yourself arrested, be broke, or fail to pay bills.

Don't be silly, we can't be arrested before becoming an insurance agent.

What do we look like? Navigators?

I hope you have deep passion about your cause and deep pockets, not just a desire to avoid paying for insurance. Ali may have ultimately won in court, but he paid a steep financial price.

Very interesting that Justice Marshall recused himself due to previously being Solicitor General when the case started, but Justice Kagan felt no need when challenges to the ACA were heard.

I guess you never were in college, had too much to drink, and then urinated on a dumpster outside the campus police precinct.

A dumpster next to the precinct? No, it was a bush behind a house at a party that had UC's attending, but that's just a disorderly conduct ticket at my alma mater. No cuffs, no free ride, no incarceration (which is the exemption!).

Have to make sure you actually get convicted, arrest doesn't exempt you. Upon release, you are still subject to the mandate.

On a serious note, we (brokers) are background checked, and a criminal past is an easy way to get denied a license (especially a felony or ANYTHING financial fraud related).
