Aged Leads

As long as they aren't on the DNC - they are fair game (unless MA / MAPD )

That is why I said, Odds are, you can't legally call them.
I think over 80% of consumer phone numbers are on the DNC. The other 20% don't have phones plugged into them, they just have the line because the cable company gives them a better price for their cable if they keep the phone line.

There are still 5 people left that are not on the DNC and have a working phone, so you might have one of those. :D:D:D

Very cool of Ben.

Question - how do you open the conversation on and old lead like that?
To be honest I did not know how old they were. I just knocked on the door and asked for the person. Had I not made a sale on the first one, I probably would not have called on the rest thinking, "These leads are no good. They are too old". Several had moved, so I spoke with teh current occupant.. A couple of them had died and I offered my condolences and then continued the conversation. Did not have any that objected to my calling..

I'm a door knocker, so when somebody answers the door, I introduce myself as "the neighborhood agent for (insert company name)." If they appear to be the same gender & age of the person on the lead I hold up the lead where they can see it and ask, "Are you Ms. Jones?" If not, "Is she home today?" When I get to the right person I say, "I was going through some old files at the office and noticed that you had requested info from us. But it doesn't look like the agent ever got back with you. Did you ever get that taken care of?" Go from there. (I think a similar intro would work on the phone, too.)

If the person no longer lives there, or is deceased, I just ask, "so who do you have your life insurance with?" Go from there.

If nobody's home, I go next door, introduce myself and say, "I was here to see one of your neighbors. But they're not home yet, so I thought I'd come over and see if I could be if any service to y'all. So, who do you have your life insurance with?"

Truthfully, I don't sell the actual person on the lead nearly as often as I sell other people in the house or the neighbor. And yes, I could (and have done) just go right down the street knocking every door. But having a lead in hand gives me an excuse to be there, and I think I look less like some door to door scammer.

Sounds about the same with keeping in touch with current clients.

And those 5 people let the answering machine take it because they screen their calls.

I do it the same way with old leads. I play dumb(which is easy for me)about the age of the lead. Doesn't really matter with Med Supps, if they were looking 10 years ago, they should be looking now because of rate increases. I see this is in the FE forum...if they were looking 10 years ago and are still alive...then they need some additional life insurance because of inflation.

Whatever type of old lead it is, it gives you an "excuse" to make a contact.

We've been looking for a good source in central Pennsylvania. Tried some from one source and they were terrible. Our upline says the source they use don't do any in our area. Ugh.
