Nice article/interview. Hard to believe that this case went to trial much less that the agent was convicted.

I find it hard to support someone who would sell a product like that to someone in her 80's.

I disagree in that the client came to him asking for that product if I remember correctly. Having said that I would have made a different recommendation.

Suitability is the onus of the licensed producer, not the proposed insured.

You have the case wrong. He didn't "sell" a product. The state convicted him of theft. He faces prison time.

He was not convicted of not meeting suitability. This passed suitability, or the company would have been called in.

Once again, it is a Theft.

While I don't like the product, I hardly feel a conviction and prison time would be appropriate way to treat an agent in this situation.

I think it sets a bad precedent for agents.
