Agent Exchange Application Process

What's missing is somehow during the application processes our producer identification is lost and we get screwed. Can't tell you how much money this has cost me but its quite substantial. Gotta love the clients who mail the apps directly to the carrier then call for status updates and questions about the benefits

The CMS Agent Certification training stated that the only way agents could be attached to the applicant and earn commission from any exchange sale, was to conduct the application process ONLINE. Paper apps won't work.

However, I see from the latest paper Consumer Marketplace Application (from CMS) that the last page, an addendum asks for a Broker/Agent I.D. number. Here's a link to it at the CMS website...

I wonder which is right and most current... CMS Certification Training? Or, the CMS Marketplace paper Application?

You keep saying that, but I don't remember anything about online apps only in my training, and I would have picked that up. I could be wrong.

Do you really think CMS truely knows at this time...The right hand does not know what the left is doing.

So, only people that are ok with private info on intermet can use an agent. Got it! Doubt it.

According to recent CMS press release, entering our Marketplace Agent ID on that last page of the Health Application, "Appendix C", allows agents/brokers to continue assisting the applicant, but none of the online documentation spells out exactly what kind of "assistance".

Personally, I DO NOT want to help anyone ascertain their subsidy eligibility. Too much liability if the client complains down the road. I'd rather not have my I.D. enter the process until it's time to pick a suitable health plan...just like today. Unfortunately, we don't know enough about the process to say for sure if that will be possible online.

Blue Shield of CA said today that paper apps only apply ON exchange with Covered Ca, off exchange is online only. Off exchange will have direct broker links, on exchange the client must enter broker info/select from a list
