Alternative to Microsoft Outlook?

Re: Alternative to Outlook?

I set it up in 2 seconds. I had my yahoo account linked to it but then just deleted the whole program because it didn't sink to YIO.

You should be able to buy a copy of Office XP or 2007 for very cheap. Both include Outlook.

It's not a free alternative, but you can save yourself a ton of hassle for probably about $100.

Call Frank. He is great but don't wait for him to read this.

Also check with any techy friends they might have. I have 3 or 4 older versions of windows lying around that would have outlook on them.

$100!!!!! That's half of my renewals. Have you fogrot that I am still haven't used up the trial version of YIO?

Thunderbird is really easy to set up. You can also use gmail, which is great, or evolution on a linux box.

I could show you how awesome my evolution setup is on my linux box but it'd probably make you sad.

Windows is a piece of ****.

I've even got compulife up and running in a virtualbox and IE 8 for purposes of broken websites that require IE.

I use a sync tool in sugarcrm to sync the calendar in sugar to google calendar, and it syncs to evolution, but would also sync to outlook, thunderbird, or whatever as long as you can connect the api somehow.

Come to think of it, a cheap trick to make YIO sync with thunderbird might be to sync outlook with google calendar using the outlook connector or whatever the google tool that does that is called, then sync thunderbird to google calendar.

Then you can use any calendar system you want, and sync YIO to your cellphone or tablet.

Do you use Microsoft Outlook for both email and calendar?

I would just use gmail and google calendar and forget about sync.

My 2 cents
Is there any alternatives to Microsoft Outlook Express? I was just trying to sync my YIO clients to Outlook and realized that I don't have it. Is there any free programs to use to take the place of it?:GEEK:

Thunderbird is Mozilla's desktop eMail client. As such, it's an open source application and supports various addons, which enhance its functionality.

Like Outlook, Thunderbird supports POP, IMAP, and SMTP. Using the Account Wizard, you also can subscribe to RSS News & Blogs, hook up to your Newsgroup account, and launch a quick Gmail setup.

or try this for better soultion

I just discovered gmail, started using it after much hesitation, and found it to be the best I have ever used. Free. Syncs with my smartphone, has a search function, calander etc. There is a small learning curve, but it does everything I need it to and more. I was an Outlook user for years.

I have no idea about anything syncing with YIO, since I have never used it.

Google Gmail, read about it, and give it a try.

To sync gmail with YIO, you could use the outlook sync for gmail, and sync YIO with outlook.
