I just got an email from RNA stating that they will issue a lady with insulin diabetes at a TABLE 2 rating....YES you did read that right! Why? well she isn't on any heart or blood pressure meds with the combination of insulin. The only other med is a cholesterol pill. They got the medical records from the doctor along with the paramed that came out excellent. She also has mitosis but not serious as she can see fine but family doesn't want her to drive.

RNA Essential Whole life 25k 68/F non s rate 94.5/M Table 2 rating.

She had to take a paramed and get an APS for WL?

There's a few carriers that will give out a level benefit for insulin dependent diabetes, as long as they're taking a reasonable amount.

RNA Essential Whole life is the fully underwritten product. That is a good rate. Probably 3-4 thousand better than many of the other popular plans. And better non forfeiture growth.

And if the person is willing to settle for a table 4 at best then that's the way to go.

I was surprised, since the original call was quoted for table 2 rating. Then when I submitted the application they said it would probably be a table 4 or higher depending on how it was controlled. JD also said this in another thread, so that made it even more surprising. Table 4 rating would have been the same as the SIWL for RNA and anything higher I would have went with another company.

Any & every time I've had a FU app with RNA & they ordered an APS... Decline! I got 1 pending now for their term product (1st time I've written term with them) since around January 15th, just got APS in today.... I'm waiting for the decline in a few days.

I even called once & asked "is an APS just a precursor to decline?", the lady kinda laughed but I was dead serious.... I said I've gotten 3 (this was before I submitted my term app) and all were declined. I know 3 isn't a large #, but it was just depressing... I'm waiting on the 4th now tho, we'll see!

Three is a lot. What were the reasons for the decline. BTW, their term is not SIterm just non med.

I have a had one decline since I have been with RNA (3 months). I have submitted 6 of the essential life so far with 5 currently paying. I am sure if it is iffy business it may be best to go through the SIWL or work on a table 2 SI issue product like SLC has. (They just moved out of FL so I am looking for a low low rate carrier for those scenarios). You have to remember it is fully UW and goes back 10 years.

I can understand the frustration, I feel 2/10 is going to be the norm on decline with the Essential whole life. I haven't written any RNA term since the rates are not the best when I look at the pipeline of rates. Probably the only time I will do term with them is when the client is already with them and wants to stay with that company and looking for a term policy (cover mortgage and other debt or child riders). Transamerica and others usually win on those cases, and if you are running into some that have marginal health you might want to look at other companies with a more lenient underwriting for those policies. They may rate them up heavy on tables, but you will find they might issue them vs declined with RNA.

It sucks when policies get declined, the client gets frustrated and sometimes you loose them, while the agent puts in all the work, does the waiting dance, then doesn't get paid......sucks!

I got a 78 year old male who had a previous TIA, but no other issues or medications being taken get approved through RNA on the fully underwritten product, even after a APS was ordered. Too bad he was dumb enough to believe at his age someone was going to get him a term policy, so he said no.
