Another Major LTC Player Making Sweeping Changes

I love how you guys were so quick to slam Northwestern... I clearly said I was a broker for the company I was referring to, and yes, I was referring to Mass.

In terms of Mass being or not being a major player, per every public stat I've seen, they rank between 7th and 9th place every year in total sales.

so, CALTC, maybe it is just a California thing, bit I know I run into them frequently.

Who slammed NWM? I just guessed based on you being with them and not wanting to share the email. The only reason is if it was internal. An open email is hardly private, so no reason not to mention it was Mass.

Don't be so defensive about NWM.

What public stat or you referring to? (not saying you aren't correct)

I remember we talked about this before, I believe, can't find it now though.

Really I should have only directed this only at Arthur, as he was the only one who actually pounced at all. My bad...

Not being defensive of NM as much as I am of basically being called a liar. When I said I was a broker for said company, and you guys already know I'm with NM, that automatically disqualified it from being NM, as no one can broker NM.

The reason I didn't identify the company as Mass was simply to make sure I didn't identify them specifically in case it wasn't yet public. The reason I even posted was to make sure you guys had a heads up in advance that it was coming. That's all.

I don't have a specific file or link readily on hand, but I've recently seen reports from at least 3 sources ranking companies by policies and premium... I think Mass came in just behind that crappy excuse of a company called Bankers.

I'm not sure that my post was a "pounce" .

You said that you received a private email about changes in benefits from a major carrier.

My response was: "If it was an email, the information was no longer private" At that point, I had no clue as to which carrier you were referring to.

Someone said it was most likely NWM. That being the case, I simply stated that NWM was over-priced to begin with and now, they're still over-priced with a policy offering less options than their competition.

I'm not sure that anyone can find fault with that statement.

And, you're correct. Both NWM & MM are in the top-10 carriers for LTCi.

Your hyperbolic statement is what was "pouncy"

Overpriced, another subjective statement in my opinion. Their rates and lack of actuarially dangerous riders are big contributors to their stability, one could certainly argue.

So, NWM is not over-priced?
OK, Let me re-state it:

If you compare NWM to it's competition (competition would be every other top-10 LTCi carrier) you will find them substantially more expensive than every other company.

Subjective? Why not do your own apples-to-apples comparison? Not sure if my statement is subjective. I think it's just a matter of fact.
