Not so much that, but more by outworking them. Nobody can say a bad thing about the agent that works the hardest. Anyone who truly works their ass off will make a killing in this biz, its also important to work SMART. Don't continue to do things that don't produce results. Basically, copy the most successful agents there, and do more of what they do, and you'll be the best.

I am more than likely going to try to shadow one of his agents that has been there for a while.. How should I ask?

Why don't you try and keep this simple. Tell him why you're interested in getting into the business. Tell him that since he is obviously successful at it, you couldn't think of anyone you would rather have as a mentor. Then let him tell you what you need to know and what you need to do. If you ask people for help, you'll likely get it.
