Anyone Here Know who Can Create a Good Website that Will Drive Local Traffic?

PPC - Google Ads Very efficient

They are extremely effective, but unless you have been running your ppc program for some time, you are looking at entry costs of $10 to $25 per click. If it takes you 100 clicks to get 1-3 leads, you are paying some pretty hefty money for your leads.

The only other alternative is to split test landing pages out until you find one that converts in the 4% to 6% range. Sending those who click to your website will only garner you a 1% to 3% conversion rate.

I think Google's AdWords may have seen its heyday.

Transferman-Not sure what keywords you are going after! ALL of my keywords cost me well under $2.00 a click. Adwords still works well for me.

Have you been running your campaigns for a long time? The following prices are from Google's Keyword Tool, what Google considers "average" cost per click (applies to those creating a new ppc campaign):

Life Insurance - $19.54
Health Insurance - $10.45
Medical Insurance - $9.93
Term Life Insurance - $29.36
Whole Life Insurance - $25.17

Mike,
My campaign has been running for about one year. I gotta tell you, your response befuddled me! I am absolutely NOT going after those keywords, or anything that resembles those words. Why in the word would I spend that much $ on those keywords, when I can get the same results from other keywords that cost me less than 2 bucks?

What you need is a website owned 100% by you and not some company, and it needs to have a unique template and content. You need to have hundreds of pages, and add new pages all the time (some sort of interaction showing the search engine this website is "alive"). After you accomplished those objectives, you need to start building links to your website. You will need over 100,000 back-links if you want to be near the top in Google. A great way to get a lot of links fast is to distribute news about your company via "Order PR Distribution Services - PR Syndication" (as me for link). If you have any questions about building insurance websites and traffic ask me, I happen to be an expert in this field and generated over $1 million in from auto insurance affiliate programs during my internet marketing career.

Last thing, in addition to organic traffic, it is always a good idea to use search engine PPC advertising. Bid the lowest amount possible and post a list of keywords several thousand long.

If you want to build your own custom website, hire overseas freelancers to do the job for cheap (no more few hundred). I recommend WordPress websites. You will need hosting, I can show you a company that lets you try their hosting plan for one month for just $0.01. After that it is just a few dollars if you decide to stay.

Once you get a few sales through your first insurance website over a period of a few months, you will quickly put 2 and 2 together and realize that if you increase the amount of websites you own by 10, you will get 10x sales during that same time period. If you own 100 website, you can be selling multiple times per day... Insurance sounds like a boring subject, and selling insurance sounds like a dead end business, but that's because people don't know how to do it. Marketing insurance is one of the highest paying sectors out there and it is one of the most exciting. Your goal is to build an "empire".

Good Luck :)

Well I'm a website designer. My specific trade is making functional and creative websites.

I can provide you with a few ideas created by me or my team for you to have a look if you are interested, before you spend any money.

You can PM me for a link to my website (I'm not allowed to post it yet) if you want to have a look.

Great, motivating post! Thanks.

Some of this is highly inaccurate.

You don't need 100s of pages but should have at least 15 to 20 to be competitive.

100,000 backlinks? That sounds crazy. I've ranked many websites at the top of Google for many terms, and a few hundred backlinks over time usually does the job. It also depends on the quality of the backlinks. The only way you can get 100,000 backlinks is by spamming the forums to death or something like that and even that would probably take years.

You can work with PPC and bid the lowest amount, but that will give you a crappy Quality Score, which will in turn limit the amount of exposure your minimally bid keywords will get. I think I tried this approach years ago, but I don't think the volume of search impressions your ads appear for will be anything special.

I pretty much go along with the rest of the stuff. I do wish people would make sure they know what they're talking about when they hand out advice, though, because misinformation is one of the biggest problems of the Internet. Everybody knows everything, and their expert status took all of six months to get, if that.

Hey but what fool would bid on those specific terms?

Just about everybody...

Really mike, you've been doing internet marketing for 17 years?

Yep, 17 years and 50 to 60 hours per week at it.

I started in February of 1996. Had a website before I even had a damn computer. One thing that was a little tricky at that time was trying to figure out what Internet marketing was and where it was going.

Even in 2000 I was savvy enough to figure out that the Dotcom bust would occur. People were investing in the Internet simply because it was the Internet. You could promote the dumbest business concept in the world, and people would invest in it simply because it involved the Internet.

As to abilities, my "best" is getting a just-went-live website to the first page of Google in roughly three hours. I did that years ago -- don't know if I could in the current seo climate.
