Anyone here selling P&C from Home?

Insurance Phoenix,
How do you get P & C appointment from 11 carriers by using home office?

I had a book of business after working for a captive for 7 years and they wanted a piece of that, plus my experience in the industry worked in my favor I'm sure. I did have some carriers decline to offer a contract, like Progressive, because of the home office. There were a few of those.

I would look into partnering with a local agent just so you have a real office to direct people to when they have questions or want to make payments. Just have the people in the office tell your clients that you are out at an appointment. You'll probably need an office eventually if you really want to grow though.

Years ago I tried working from home as a life specialist with Allstate. My discipline was lacking and it did cost me some production and business.

Now, years later, I work exclusively from home and have no problems whatsoever.

It's maturity.

Like it's been said already, It's a matter of the type of client.

I sold commercial and had clients dropping by the office all the time with checks, questions, etc.

Not so hot if you are in your underwear at home in the basement...

Do you have kids? I do, and work from home some now, and it's extremely difficult to keep them out of the office.

Wife too, no matter what I say about "I'm not home when I'm in the office" she still thinks it's okay to come down at lunch and ask me to do a favor.

so it's tougher working from home than most think.

Can be done, but what type of image do you want your clients to have when they think of you? (this guy doesn't even have an office!)

Of course you could flip that and say "I'm saving you money because I have no overhead." So there are pros and cons
