When I worked for them, I was naive and stupid, I didn't know what was acceptable behavior and what was not. I was showing up for those early morning mandatory meetings every day. I had a client that wanted a 3 million dollar life policy, and during the meeting I got an email on my Iphone from his secretary because he was coming to Dallas to meet me the next day, so of course I checked it. Well, my manager called me out in front of everybody, high school style, and humiliated me. He told me he was speaking and I need to have some respect and put my phone away. Unfortunately, that was only a preface to much more unacceptable behavior to follow. I would call my manager while I was on appointments to ask questions about something, and he would reply, "What are you, stupid? Didn't you f*cking listen to anything I said?" No joke. The icing on the cake was when I was riding with another agent, and he called, and he didn't realize that he was on speakerphone and we could both hear everything he had to say, and he basically called me every curse word, a "stupid f*cking ***" and many other choice phrases. I was in tears by the time I hung up, and that agent that witnessed the whole conversation quit that day and never came back. I have since moved on to greener pastures and bid farewell to Amerilife.....
I am still in contact with some of the agents there, and I had posted my experience with Amerilife in another thread, and I guess word got out about it what I "posted all over the internet" and caused some commotion at the office. Ha ha.
I did run into my boss though since then, and he told me I could've been so successful, and found new agents to "train" or "ride with" (i.e. steal their clients) and split commissions on big policies or annuities. Yeah right, you mean take advantage of a new agent's warm market.
I am soooo happy with my agency now, no mandatory meetings, no more walking to the front of the class and writing a big "X" on the board in a red marker if you didn't sell anything the previous day (extremely humiliating), and I get treated with RESPECT, Ameri life sucks, and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant. That's the truth.
