Im a new agent and was wondering what the average cost to purchase leads was for final expense. I want NEW leads that havnt been contacted by the agency I would be working for. Prices?!

Why would you work for an agency if you don't like their leads? If you have to go elsewhere and pay for your own leads, get out of that agency.

You can do everything on your own. If it's training that you need, I can think of at least one good source.

I dont work for an agency yet, however I noticed that reading on some forums etc that some agencies recycle leads. If i were to buy FRESH leads from somewhere, what type of costs would I be looking at?

The problem is, it appears that too many of these agencies pretend to offer you 50% of something, but instead they are just giving you 50% of nothing.

Very True.

I have been very fortunate to have been part of an agency (ind health) that provided 1 one 1 training, subsidized leads and ongoing support. Agencies like the one I'm referring to are pretty rare in the insurance industry.

It's like in another thread a member mentioned a GA wanting to put his/her agency at 15% to sell a HII mini med, well the MGA contract (I have one, pretty easy to get) is 30%. I'm thinking just what the hell did the MGA think he was doing to earn a 50% over ride?

Lets not derail the thread.

Just what are some average costs that would be acceptable for new data and leads.

No such thing as an average. If you do your own mailers, you are going to spend $350-400/1000.

Sometimes you will get a .05% return, sometimes a 1% and occasionally a 1.5% return. I've heard stories of 3-4% returns, but, they are as likely to be true as bigfoot.

That's anywhere from $25 to $80 per lead if you do them yourself.

The cost is the same if you buy leads. Say you buy leads somewhere for $20 each. You are paying the other costs in commission reduction.

It may be a good deal to do that, it is for me, but, the answer is different for everyone.

Their are many different ways to get leads for FE. You can try internet leads and throw anywhere from $15 to $30 away. You can also put money into a direct mail system that would probably be the best thing to start if you can afford it. You will be looking at $350-$450 range for that. And with that you will probably be looking at mailing 1000 pieces and making 1-2 sales from that.

The internet lead idea burned me and it really hurt my business, don't fall for the same trick I did.

We found that mailers are the best option. The cost per 1000 is pretty constant, it is the response rate that will make a huge difference. We sell over the phone which allows us to mail where there is less competition. Hence, we get better response rates than over mailed areas. Our average cost per lead ends up around $19-$20.
