Best Way To Build My Business As A New Agent

How important is a company's national advertising in credibility? Where do their leads come from? Are they really leads? Or just a list of people that just turned 64?
 
Thanks. How important is the proximity of their office. One is 15 miles away. The other is 2 hours away.

You'll have to go to the office for training and turning in new business. I would plan on having to show up at the office at least 3 days per week. You shouldn't have to stay long (I wouldn't), but you'll have to make the trip out there on a rather regular basis.
 
Interesting thread. Reminds me a bit of the recently defunct Religion and Politics Forum. Here's my 2 cents:

Whoever made the comparison above about Michelle Obama asking for attorney referrals while she waited to take the Bar -a much, much better analogy would be to Hillary Clinton who actually flunked the D.C. Bar. I'll bet she got a lot of wasted advice about practicing law in Washington. She did marry Bill, moved to Arkansas, passed the Arkansas Bar, and promptly got a job with a big firm and made a killing in beef futures. The moral: don't listen to anyone here -instead marry the attorney general of whatever state you're in.

On getting any securities licensing: way too early for that. If he doesn't make it with the insurance exam, he has no chance with securities licensing requirements. Sell some insurance for a couple of years. Know what is going on and what you're capable of before considering taking the securities plunge.

Most of you guys are hilarious. I think any newbie here should lurk for at least a month to get an idea of the personalities. Oh, ditto the unbunchable panties thing -that's important before that first post too.
