Actually most of us don't learn the first time. X3 here but only one company you would be familiar with which was AIL. One of the things I woul say to any Newby s usually the worst companies recruit the most aggressively.
What? Huh? Did someone say my name?
Yes. I was very lucky when I started. Just fell in with a great place with a great company (ForeThought back in their hay day) with a great manager. Didn't have a great commission % but didn't know it and made fair money for what I was worth at the time. That's been 17-years ago and I'm still learning. I still consider myself a Newby.
I have lot's of free reading on my website that will help Newbies trying to figure it all out. But what XRAC said is one of the key points. The rat hole companies will find YOU. They are the ones on Craig's List and always marketing hard for new agents. The good ones don't have to do that. The agents eventually find them once they get a little wiser to how things work.
I may be biased but anyone new to the biz can read my opinions about it all by digging around the public pages in the training section of my website http://www.fexcontracting.com
I call it the no spin zone for a reason.
Bill O'Riley hasn't sued me yet.
