Buh Bye Assurant - Up for Sale / Exiting Market

Assurant will be letting their internal sales staff go pretty soon, probably in the next two weeks.

The chance of a sale is pretty close to zero, I guess those of us who wrote lots of Assurant business will be getting a new FYC during the next OEP wherever we move our clients.

As much as I have liked writing Assurant business the past two years it was clear to me that the elimination of commissions was a permanent move and I'd rather have them gone than in the limbo of accepting business with no compensation; I had to write about 5 cases with them for 0% comp in order to satisfy clients, that isn't happening from this point forward.

So you were writing biz through Assurant with no comp from them either

----------

we have several regional players so I guess that could be spun both ways... Assurant aint no damn regional player.... they were no player, lets all not make a bigger deal out of this than it is

There are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened

im surprised there are agents dumb enough to write business for no comp...

If I had known Humana wasn't going to pay me for all the apps submitted I wouldn't have been have been as dumb as I appear now.

I got apps that I probably was not paid on too but im now auditing them... my point was I know people that wrote carriers that don't pay anything..... cant see the smarts in that.

Scott & White started having probs here with admin and I slammed the breaks on them and will not actively market them until they get the agent moved to the front of the line... we are the insurance companies only hope for profitable business.

While you may think it's dumb, I think it is doing the right thing for a client. Several of my clients were unhappy with their plan choice and wanted to switch back to Assurant (who they had last year), the only thing to do was enroll them.

Maybe you should consider the context before making a comment the next time.
