CIGNA's Full Court Press

I wouldn't mind writing more with Cigna which I could do if they didn't have an underwriting department.

That's pure gold. I've sent them 3 apps this week, and they've declined two and approved one. One of the ones that they declined in less than 48 hours was issued standard by Humana.

I've got three in there now with CIGNA (maybe that's why I got an invite to the "Momentum Event"). One ricocheted out of there in a hot minute - but was not unexpected.

The other two are pretty clean (squeaky actually) on current clients. Dying to see what happens...

Don't forget if they make a modified uw offer, you have basically 3 days to respond or you need to submit a new app.

No problem, they didn't used to be such a pita, but I really do hate them. Sometimes they are the only option due to uw or they are the best option hands down ( in some counties they kill everyone else on the 1k and 2k deductible copay plans---makes me want to cry!)...

I rarely send an app to anyone without pre-screen first. That is especially true with Cigna.

I have had probably a dozen apps submitted direct via my website and everyone was declined.

About 90% of my pre-screens are a denial or 50% rate up. I get better offers from almost everyone else.

You must have wealthy clients. I only have a handful who can afford deductibles below $3500 and they are smart enough to opt for high ded HSA plans.

Seems pretty random to me, I had a guy that was a 95% rate up for BCBST turn into a 25% with Cigna. They tend to deal with BMI only better than my other carriers for some reason.

Not really, but as I get away from internet leads and more into email marketing and telemarketing, I am getting a higher AV per app.

And when I bought internet leads, I would buy them all over the state and I really didn't pay attention who is the most competitive in each county.

However, now that I'm investing more time into telemarketing I have been researching which counties Cigna is the most competitive in (and steering clear of those areas!).
