CMS is About to Contact Your ON Exchange Clients

I found out on a few of my clients that tried to cancel their plans in Ohio that their is a 15 day notice of cancellation required. So technically say they are suppose to pick up coverage under a new employer plan October-1-2014 the Marketplace requires they cancel on September-15th or their cancellation will not actually happen until October-15th if they w8 until October-1 to cancel.
They will owe a pro-rated 15 day premium for days covered they did not need.
I can't ask my client to cancel a plan before their actual new benefit plan starts. :1baffled:

I see mass hysteria coming in the next 3-6 months especially when consumers have to justify their estimated income on their 2014 tax returns. :err:

You're exactly right! Why would anybody in their right mind mess with all this. I guess if you like abuse and pain. This whole thing is just crazy.......I can't wait for people to call me screaming in my ear threatening my life...fun times ahead!

I am not a subsidy/hc.gov expert. Here is my question....

If you have a 2014 policy, on exchange, and want to terminate it (for whatever reason), where does the termination notice get sent? Hc.gov? Or the carrier? And can you do it online at hc.gov?

I've had clients cancel with BC. It hasn't been a problem yet. I'm not sure what takes place behind the scenes. I've had them cancel on all different days of the month too. Never heard of a 15 day notice to cancel any health or life policy in Texas.

Thank you my father in heaven for the CPA who warned me of the potential tax return nightmare of this forthcoming crisis which is at our door step. We are aware "stuff" needs to hit the fan for real change to occur in this country

Are they canceling at hc.gov or bcbs?

Our subsidy clients have to call marketplace to cancel and they send the notice to FB, so what I've been told. I also have been told if they had set it up eft anytime during the year they first had to call FB take if off eft and request paper bill and then call marketplace to cancel. Trying to help some other agents client yesterday that the agent never told him he was receiving a subsidy and now wants to cancel and he set up on eft sometime during the year, it has created a big hassle. Also found out while talking with this client that his group health offered at work would be deemed affordable, didn't want to tell him about tax time, not my client. I did advise him to get on the group for Jan 1, though.

This just keeps getting better and better.

I should have said different, I knew if subsidy they had to call mp, but never heard of the eft until yesterday.

Most of our subsidy clients have received their letter's from FB but only two have called me. I have no incentive to save them or even roll them to another plan, but being the semi nice guy I am, I will help some in the right direction.

Funny thing though: One subsidy client with what she said will be almost exact same income, I ran quotes for her plan for 2015 then deducted the subsidy she was receiving and it was $8.00 cheaper per month. Can't figure that one out since most plans were over 17% increase.
