Cockroach Infestation -- The Joys of FE Sales

Wow, you guys are making selling FE NOT sound so promising.

I don't think I could bring myself to set foot inside someone's home if it was obviously a total scroungy filthy bug-laden dump. I would have to come up with an excuse or something.

Does this happen often to y'all?

It's the exception not the rule. You see it all. Some companies let you take the ap over the phone. If you find a house too creepy try calling and selling it over the phone.

Then I don't think final expense is the market you're wanting to go after. These folks are on the lowest end of the socio-economic scale.

Medicare Supplements, which we do a great deal of also, is more middle income America, and you won't see homes like this (typically) where people are paying for their own Medicare Supplement plan.

I'm sure someone will have to argue that this is a generality and there are always exceptions. However, you should expect to definitely see your share of slums in the FE marketplace. These are folks who have planned $0 for their final expenses and have made, often, the worst possible financial choices their entire lives. They have no savings, no investments, and only income from what the government hands out via Social Security.

Putting an income filter of $15000 will eliminate the majority of your FE prospects.

The FE market is exactly as described above. It is a different demographic than any other insurance market. Understanding that market is the key to having success working it. My wife could not do my job as she would not set foot in over 75% of the homes I enter.

California, especially SoCal, has a little bit higher income level.

See any more snakes recently, JD? LOL.

I met with a guy Friday who takes twice-a-month injections to keep his RAGE under control. He spent 19 years in a federal pen for manslaughter. He also tried out for Olympic Boxing in the 70s or 80s.

Then another dude I saw Friday thought the card we sent in was about State-Regulated Life Assurance (instead of Life Insurance) Programs.

He was 76 and confessed to continual suicidal thoughts to me and thought I was some sort of intervention counselor. I referred him to my Psychiatrist personal training client.

...He didn't call me back..!

Well from my "Exp" (Exp being my MGA/IMO, other agents, things Ive read here & a well known guy whos been in Socal exclusively for 15yrs selling FE & lead sources) Ive been told, dont go after the bottom of the bottom (ppl making less then 10-15k) cause they wont pay the prem. You want ppl who's been say a mechanic all his life, making 25-40k all his life with very lil life ins or none at all (beyond group) and has nothing saved really. They can pay, yet dont have financial planners, etc and arent in a financial position to save anything. If you're in SoCal on $40k with a family, trust me, u dont have much....and I dont mean 40k ea spouse, I mean TOTAL household income!! Im going to stick with that since my IMO has mailed for agents out here before with those #'s.

We'll see!
