I know this sounds a little morbid, but its a cheap method of marketing. I also found this idea on rosenthal files. You go through the daily obits and write down the names of the people who have survived the deceased. Get their phone numbers and make a sales call.

From what I've been studying, the best people to prospect are those that have recently attended a funeral. Mark says you send thema letter first to get around DNC restrictions, but unless I'm misunderstanding what I've read, Indiana allows licensed agents to call consumers. From: Attorney General: About Do Not Call

Most telemarketers are forbidden from calling or texting numbers on the Do Not Call list. There are four types of telephone solicitors who are exempt from this law and may continue to contact you. These include charitable organizations (whose calls are made by volunteers or employees), newspapers (whose employees make their telephone calls) and licensed insurance and real estate agents. Indiana law does not allow companies with existing business relationships to make sales calls to you unless you have provided your permission to do so.:)

Wow, You dont call anyone. LOL. Hey, I know your blah blah died. NO WAY! You can search on the forum about this subject and what I wrote about it. People that have went to a funeral are in a right mindset to buy life insurance. I know I think about dying everytime I go to a funeral. I would sugguest including them in your random mailer. I would never call them. But I would add them to one of my mailers.

Well I wasn't planning on saying anything about someone dying lol. Just something to the effect of, "Hi I am Josh a local ins agent that specializes in burial insurance. Would you be interested blah blah blah.

Hey I'm getting this stuff from your site lol, did I misread or misunderstand something???

Yes, when was it written? Was it back in the days when everyone had a home phone and there was not a dnc list?

Times change. We have to always be updating and changing.

Cold calling and door knocking does not work like it did back in the day.

Ok gotcha. Was just trying to find an inexpensive way to get into this business. I don't mind doing the work, but its gonna take me a little while to save up thousands of $$ to buy leads on a consistent basis.

Get out and see the people. Find people that have a problem and then help them solve it.

It is a lot about Niche Marketing.

Insurance agents in Indiana can't call anyone on the federal do not call list. Sending a letter doesn't change anything.

Only the STATE do not call list in Indiana allows insurance agents to call. But most people are not on the state list. They are on the federal list.

You have to check both lists.
