Columbian FE Meeting

Why the hell would ANY in-the-know independent final expense agent write Columbian, beyond greedy marketers who like to grossly manipulate renewals in their favor against unsuspecting, trusting, new final expense agents?

I suppose those who don't care too much about pricing or the inflexibility of the underwriting relative to other carriers.

Dave, I just ran the new Columbian rates against UH. In most cases they were close with UH often being cheaper. Especially on smokers.

I don't know anything about CL except that they are easily replaced. And they are real anal on the phone if an agent is present when you are trying to get info about the policy.

I also know that they wanted FEX on board and Scott and Travis had meetings and discussions with them and decided to pass on picking them up.

Nothing else to know.

Elite prices are competitive, right around trans. In some cases cheaper, definitely cheaper than the new foresters rate.

What I don't like is the phone interview is loong, I did one the other day, it took about 20 min. And they don't even give you a decision.

Were they drilling down on something specific? Last one I did was less than 10 minutes but that was on the old Classic plan.

Sure. But why should I pick them up when I am already grabbing other carriers to fit my bread-and-butter carrier weaknesses?

That's my point.

I see this particular product evolution shoring up concerns of marketers who lead with Columbian having a hard time convincing educated agents on continuing to use them when other products have better pricing considering the look-back period.

Again, if I was a marketer making 5x to 10x as much annual renewal income off of unsuspecting agents versus the 1 or 2% annual override spread most other products offer, but with more competitive offerings along with better ease of use, I'd be EXTREMELY motivated to get Columbian to offer a better-priced product to shore up and increase premium sales that would otherwise go to other, lower-renewal carriers.

I don't see why any of us would preferentially reach for Columbian now with all the other options we have that are superior in price, underwriting, and quality.

There are more health questions in elite, also they ask who dr. Is, when was last time you went to dr. Much longer then old pos.

The underwriter stated that they ask for the Dr. last consulted just be sure a person has been to Dr. in the last 5 yes. They do not contact the Dr. but if 60+ and no Dr. in the last 5 yrs. then they don't qualify for the ELite.
