Commission Question

I was in the mortgage business from 96 to 2008. "Those were the days, my friend, I thought they'd never end." It was like shooting ducks in the pond or catching fish in a barrel.

Is anybody still making money in mortagge protection? I got a new mortage 6 months ago and not one solicitation was received. I used to get them all the time.

Returns just not there.. I know back when the mortg was strong- people use to go to the courthouse and sit there all day pulling closing docs and gathering names etc

I'd venture to guess MP is a pretty good market to get back into- just sucks ass running appts at night when people get off of work- but yeah- it was good money- you know they had a checking acct- couldnt get a loan without one, and back then co's like CNA and F&G required only HOS's. Now you can get non meds to $500k

Someone told me you can actually get that info from the courthouse now directly online from home.. not sure if thats true.. but might be worth a shot to mailout 50 personalized letters a week to new homeowners within a 10 mile radius of your home.. wouldnt cost ya much at all and with new homeowners not getting hammered with MP direct mail- one might find a couple nuggets there

I think I might give it a shot next month- have a ton of pushed back Jan appts....

Up here in the SACTO area we had Ameriquest which was a sub-prime giant. Anyhow, I had a friend who started working there. He told me the reason he looked into it in the first place was because he was helping his bud who was down on his luck and was sleeping on his couch. After a month, his bud said..here is your key for the house back..I am out of here. Where are you going to live my friend asked? I bought a house close by.

After working there one month the dude made over $50k already. This was in 02-03.

The no good ones there made 200k or less each year.

I knew one manager there that made over $150k in one month in the hey day. They all worked 12 hour days min. He is now a ski bum and living just fine.

They would not hire me because they thought I would broker deals off to my friend and the managers were doing that themselves.

Insane money being made by many in CA.

You're full of sh*t and a liar

Wow... I don't know what to tell you. I promise you I will do whatever it takes to convince you that I am not lying. If you want, I can give you my password to Nextiva online fax and you can look at my fax history, PM me. Seriously this is just really weird. Why would I lie about this?

I know you had a friend that was apparently done wrong by Securus. I understand you are still mad about that. I've looked at your previous posts. There are dozens dedicated to trashing Securus. But I promise you I'm not making this up.

The only reason I'm wasting my time responding to this is because I know how important an online reputation is. I've owned small businesses and I was very involved in getting my name out via the internet. Otherwise, I really wouldn't care what your saying whether it was true or not.

Not true. I do work with them unlike you. All my apps are faxed to the carrier.

If you fax the ap directly to the carrier how does Securus know that you sold a lead and not to resell the lead in 35 days? Just curious.

So coming completely fresh into the insurance world did you find it to be an easy transition?
How about training? did you just go off of videos ect on how to sell the product?

What did you find to be the hardest/easiest in starting your new venture in FE?
.
Hey Ben, I posted this over in your "Starting with Securus" thread...Was hoping to get some honest feedback,
Thanks

Perhaps I was a little harsh

You're in zona, maybe your regions different- I can tell you will 110% accuarcy that in the south, from Tenn to Florida every Securus agent MUST submit the application to their office in Melbourne Florida- I know this because I helped my friend after closing 2 of his deals fax the apps along with Securus's cover letter to their office in Melbourne.. In fact, my friend wrote a policy for his wifes co-workers husband- I told him to send it straight to Monumental- he got an e-mail from is mgr that he needed to fax a copy to his office and they basically gave him the scolding treatment...

I find it difficult to believe that one region runs an entirely different scheme than another.. but that wouldnt surprise me with Securus
