They (Coventry) would be my first MA here in Iowa, and I'm going for training soon.
Just wanted to know how the board liked them??

If you don't expect to be paid, they're great. They did not have me listed as agent for over half of my PDP enrollments. That's understandable since I did them ONLINE!

How the hell could that get screwed up? Perhaps the computer can blame "human error."

Anthem Blue Cross of CA had the same problem. I'm not listed on about 2/3 of my MA enrollments done online through my portal. Incompetent!

The did the same thing to me Rick. I was not officially appointed to sell until mid December, yet I have been writing business for over a year, and getting paid. I thought I was the only one who had fallen through their crack. ;)

My FMO did not get paid for everything I wrote last year. They just thought I was writing for a different carrier. Once they found out and got involved, because money was involved, things finally got straightened out, I hope... ;)

To me it is not just an issue of how they treat me. I only sell what is best for the client, and in many cases in my particular market, it is Coventry. If it was a different product, I would and am appointed to sell it also. So, Greenhorn, sell what is best for your client and it will all work out in the end, at least for your client. If that is Coventry, be aware, they are disorganized at best. ;) Good luck.

Wow thanks for the feedback guys, I'm a med sup, and FE guy right now. But the MA is just falling into my lap, or at least they want to talk about it. Coventry and BC/BS are the two I'm carrying. I've got 2 days of training with BC....which of course I desperately need.

I'll respectfully disagree with Coventry being labeled as...disorganized at best, as far as PDP. I've always gotten paid what I am owed and have written between 100-200 PDP plans since their start. I might get a call a month on a prescription question and have only gotten 2 calls off of the one's I've written this past AEP...and the call was taken care of after I called Coventry.

Personally, I use to have an AdvantraRX plan when I was on disability and it always paid well.

For What It's Worth:

I don't know why people on this forum make broad brush condemnation of carriers when they should know better. Take Coventry, for example. The PFFS and PDP products are typically handled out of Bethesda, while the CCP products are handled regionally... at least that is the way it is done where I am at.

The national office in Bethesda is screwed up royalty IMHO, but I have nothing but good things to say about the regional office in Kansas City. In my experience, not only does CHCKC respond quickly to agents ( they know you personally and you can get a F2F) but also their customers... and claims are handled regionally, not nationally like some other carriers, so you have a better chance of getting to someone who can help with a problem.

Before others begin lamb-basting, they should think about that and give consideration to naming their location when they blast a carrier. The problem just may lie in the regional office and not be a national issue.

Other than the long wait for ID cards Coventry has treated my clients well and paid claims as advertised.

But, as an agent and the way they deal with payment of commissions, tracking of applications, timely processing of applications and record keeping, I stand by my statement that they are disorganized at best.

I wrote for them for a year, quite a few apps and all the sudden they dont know who I am and I am not in the system. It took 6 weeks to get ID cards to the clients I wrote at the beginning of AEP? The app tracker is stillnot listing all the applications I wrote during AEP, but the local office has them on their database. yeah, I enventually get paid, but what a bitch getting to that point. It could/should be way better, and I am comparing all the above to other carriers. I know how it can be, and it is not organized or efficient. YMMV.

I've been writing their PDP during OEP. I've been moving some of my clients from a MAPD back to Medicare, PDP and a Med supp. They've consistantly been rejecting the PDP's through OEP. I finally got word that if I want them to issue the PDP plan the client has to call in directly and tell them they're leaving the MAPD.....wtf! They're checklist sheet lists every other alternative for OEP except going from an MADP back to original Medicare and PDP. They must know now that after 4 years of this the rules for OEP. They're making it very difficult for my clients to sign up for their PDP during the OEP

I will agree that their checklist sheet is mind-boggling.

The client is supposed to call a toll free# to tell Coventry that they are dropping their MAPD plan. The # I was given is just the general # for Coventry. Has anyone tried to call Coventry. You're transferred constantly and the info they give isn't the most accurate. I can just imagine how this is going to work out. They should give a specific # for the client to call, like the underwriter handeling the case, but that would be too easy
