Customer direct to carrier

That's good information! I've been encouraged by some to rep progressive for toys but I've also got other places for those things.

You are brand new, right, no existing book? MEAA is not going to want you to have Progressive. They have some other carriers that will basically fill that role.

I have gotten in that Progressive direct argument before. A progressive rep told me that buying online or through the 800 number that the mvr, clue and credit reports will not be ran at that point. The are done post sale and then the rates get jacked up. I always try to explain to people that I pay the money upfront to run the reports to get an accurate quote so they are not hit with big surprises later on(then come crawling back to me all sorry because they refused to listen)

Yuck! Hate that type of business. I think I'll kick their butt anyway. Have no use for a company like that.

Safeco (now apart of Liberty Mutual) is on my hit list now to. For the last year they have been soliciting my preferred safeco customers to switch to liberty mutual directly.

Liberty Mutual has been a part of Safeco for a long time. For certain older Liberty Mutual policies you actually have to go into the Safeco site to service them.

I hate hearing things like this.

This is one of the many reasons I not longer sell personal p&c, and only sell commercial. More competition, higher turnover, smaller premiums, more servicing, I continue to be confused at why indy agents focus on personal lines.

Are the soliciting them as Safeco insureds or just getting wrapped up in their marketing? I've had LM in the past and currently with Safeco through the cluster, I can't recall anything from LM nor has anyone I have with Safeco said anything.

That's dirty if they are in fact targeting them. What would be the difference in rate? Or would their be added bells and whistles to their policies to switch?

One of my customers received a better rate but the coverages were slightly off in order to get that better rate. It appears that they do have access to the policy info because at first it was just mailers which don't provide proof but then my husband received a call and the rep knew what he drove and that he had safeco. This rep said safeco wasn't the real deal and it was for non-standard. My husband hasn't filled out anything online to get quotes either so how did they get his info. They have called or heavily mailed friends and relatives I put on safeco that are all preferred, married, home owners with two or more cars and high limits. Could just be the local Liberty Mutual people, I don't know and safeco rep, he wouldn't confirm or deny it.
