DI Columbia, SC

The guy is 51 pharmacist with deep vein thrombosis for just over a year, and the only effect has been a swollen leg due to it.

He is looking for $2200 - $4300 per month. He has a work policy that covers 50% already.

Let me know.

So let's see, at 51 this guy has suddenly found value in DI since he's not quite disabled, but not far from it either?

This guy should have purchased individual disability insurance a long time ago. This kind of reminds me of the DI prospecting I did once, got a lot of sick people knocking at my door, had to tell them all to go away.

Had one lady ask if the policy would cover the sugery she had coming up. I asked her what the surgery was for. She told me she couldn't tell me because she was pretty certain the insurance company wouldn't issue a policy if they or I knew.

I also had someone utter the phrase, "It's just MS."

It is unfortunate that your client waited such a long time to finally find value in Disability income, Justing. Although it is terrible to say, he almost got what he deserved. I'm sure he has been aware of Disability insurance his entire career, but must have been one of those invisible types.

However, it is easy to say all of this not knowing the person. I'm sure he's a nice guy, so here is some advice to consider. Find out more about his work situation. When there is a ticking time bomb like this, people can become very motivated to have some type of insurance in place, which for you should mean - Let's talk GSI (Guaranteed Standard Issue).

Depending on his work situation, this may be a great idea for him. I know Union Central offers up to $2500 or $3000 with a relatively small group. Unum will also do GSI for small groups.

Get more information from the client to be sure it is worth your time. If he works for Walgreens or CVS, don't think there is anything there. If it is an urgent care or other sort of practice, might be worth exploring.

Good luck!

I will check into this on monday.

Are you not in columbia and looking for an agent to help with the sale? Or are you just looking for some product guidance?

To be honest this doesnt sound too promising...

Does he own the pharmacy he works at?

Does his current policy coordinate with others? (this is critical to find out)

Its great that he wants that benefit, but what is his monthly salary? This will determine how much coverage he can receive more than anything, along with his risk class....

With his condition, many individual policies will most likely add an exclusion on for his condition. And since his condition would be most likely to make him disabled, the extra coverage might not be that appealing to him...
