Do auto insurers offer discounts for Verizon HUM or other devices?

Client was suckered into taking this device for $14.99 per month per car by cell phone salesman with the expectation her insurance would have huge savings. I guess it plugs into the OBD port of your car and can track check engine codes and maintenance issues, the big draw was if someone steals your 2003 Chevy you can track the car on your cell phone, thus these huge savings from your insurer that will make this device pay for itself. LOL

I know of no companies offering a discount on this, one underwriter said there would be no guarantee that it stays plugged in, and secondly no guarantee that the customer pays the monthly fee.

Sadly, you'll be the bad one when you tell him, "Yeah, not happening". He won't remember the Verizon person who talked him into it in the first place.

items which get plugged into OBD port get removed when the car is serviced and are often not put back in place. Factory installed anti theft devices make little to no difference in premium
