As an independent agent who can sign up for and write policies for dozens of carriers, is there a minimum quota that you have to have so that a carrier doesn't drop you ?

For example, if you get "registered' with 5 different life insurance companies and you really like 2 of them so you sell their stuff the most, but every once in a while you give the other 3 some business.

Would they ever refuse to work with you or pressure you for more business because you only use them sometimes ?

Be very, very careful.

If you get appointed with a carrier and don't write enough business with them, there's a chance that your pecker might fall off. Really.

Yup. I have heard some real horror stories here from agents who got appointed with carriers through Peckerless and Associates in Meridian, Mississippi. Be careful indeed.

This is a prime example of why I hesitate to post on this forum. I always fear of asking something that would be obvious to an experienced agent, and getting mocked. I can see that you guys are having fun, but someone is reaching out to you and asking for advice. Isn't that the purpose of this forum? You can have your fun, but why not at least answer the question?

And by the way, we're not all men here.

Well, not any more. Like Moon said, a few peckers have fallen by the wayside...

You forgot to mention that he will have ample warning, it will start to turn a deep shade of purple first. Those who apply for a greeters job at Wal-mart and get out of insurance can prevent that from happening.

You are absolutely right. Humorless, but right.

Some carriers will not renew unused appointments. In my state, you can appoint at the time of the first application - no need to do it in advance. That will vary by state.

And by the way, we're not all men here.

I guess you don't have anything to worry about then, do you?

Yes, Some of them do. They usually pay an appointment fee to the state so if you have no activity then they will eventually drop you!
