"The U.S. Department of Justice and the Michigan Attorney General today filed suit (release) against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, which controls over 60% of that state's health insurance market. The complaint alleges violations of the Sherman Act, the nation's antitrust law, that give Blue Cross illegal market power that allows it to set prices and block lower-priced competitors. The complaint accuses BC of imposing mandatory "Most Favored Nation" (MFN) clauses in hospital contracts that block competition."
