Client info:
Female, Age 71 NT
Rx: Cyproheptad 4mg 2x day (allergic skin rash)
Sertraline 100mg 1x Day (Anxiety)
Triamt 37.5-25 1x day (blood pressure)
Atorvastatin 10mg 1x day (Cholesterol)
Omeprazole 20mg 1x day (Acid Reflux)
Has upcoming surgery to remove Gall Stones.

I was replacing a UoO Graded WL $10k and a State Farm WL $20k.
Client already had $10k SIWL w/RNA.
I wrote her another $15k SIWL w/RNA, approved/issued. I then wrote her a $25,000 SIWL Preferred with 5 Star, approved preferred/not issued.

Her 5 Star policy hadn't issued so I called and was told they changed her to Graded from Preferred due to something on MIB (couldn't tell me what). As we already had the approval we have already cancelled out the UoO and State Farm. Now 5 Star is going back on their decision of Preferred and only offering Graded. There is not a single question on 5 Stars application that would require graded for her.

Both the UoO and State Farm policies were recently issued. Between the $15k with RNA and the $25k with 5 Star I was going to be able to get her $10k more coverage for less premium. Keep in mind the State Farm was FULLY UNDERWRITTEN (blood, urine, med records, etc).

I don't know about any of you, but when I'm given an Preferred approval at the phone interview and then they come back graded I think it's ridiculous.

Whatever was apparently on her MIB, I'm sure RNA, State Farm, other companies have seen the same thing and didn't have a problem with it. I'm lost at what to do so any suggestions are welcome. I originally showed her the EL WL w/RNA, but she decided to just go with the SIWL between RNA and 5 Star, as she had just gone through full underwriting and didn't want to do it again.

Hate to break it to you, the RNA app needs to be withdrawn. She has upcoming surgery. That is a no-go with them on SIWL.

That happened to a few agents with RNA when they started doing the POS interviews. Travis was able to get them all fixed. You might want to talk to your upline to see what they can do on the 5 Star. I have the same concern about a 5 Star application. It's a good sized policy, $159/mo. I wrote it last Tues and did the POS interview and she was approved preferred. It still has not been issued. I tried to call 5 Star yesterday to see what's up with it and couldn't get through. I left a message but they have not called back. Going to call again today.

If they start this crap then I will stop writing them.

I'm not sure why you say that? There is no questions on the SIWL app here in IA that pertain to upcoming surgery. She is good to go with RNA, but is now capped out at $25k SIWL with them. That's why I went with 5 Star for the other $25k, got it approved preferred, not they are coming back with graded. Beyond frustrated with them right now.

----------

I spoke with my upline (forum member), and he said they couldn't get 5 Star to do anything more than I could myself. Told me to call and speak with the underwriter, tried that, but 5 Star wouldn't let me speak with underwriting. Just kept saying the client would have to dispute whatever it is (unknown) with MIB.

You're right. I recalled the question being broader than it is. All it asks about is diagnostic testing.

Probably the Sertraline and MIB history.

They should tell you what question they should have answered no to.

They don't ask about anxiety, only depression. I did ask 5 Star which question was causing the issue, and they said only the underwriter would know that and I couldn't speak with the underwriter. If they are going to have phone interviews and POS approvals, they need to stand by that decision given.

Might need a different upline? if your uplin can't go to bat for you, that is.

I did finally get to talk to them about my pending case. They blamed it on EMSI and said they are the holdup.

Kind of my sentiment regarding my upline right now. I specifically asked if they had a contact at 5 Star who he could call for me and get the decision reviewed and possibly reversed and was told they couldn't get anything more than I could done. Didn't even call 5 Star and try for me.

I not an agent who needs " handholding" or training. But it'd be nice in cases like this if he would try and help.

I don't need hand holding either but the IMO's words speak louder to the companies that any one voice from an agent.

I can guarantee that Scott and Travis would be on the horn with 5 Star if my case was messed up like your's is.
