Dropping Into Ethnic Areas

I did some in my MP days. F&G had sales material in Spanish. I used those and normally they had someone to interpret. Many times it was their kids. Others it was a neighbor. Once had a landlord. Most understand more English then they speak. They just didn't seem to stay on the books long but they were younger. I would bet you could do well going after seniors. May be a little harder then normal but once you get established the referrals might make it all worth it. See who prints their sales material in Spanish.

I found a niche for RNA...Spanish speaking clients that need spanish only for PHI and support.

I have a potential customer that keeps going to Puerto Rico as his execuse..lol, however he has shown interest.. It helps to speak some Spanish. If you don't know it, hire somebody that does. I generally do ok in the Latin market, but I do get passed up on occasion simply because I don't have the accent or latin last name. I know just the basics and not considered Bi-Lingual.

I do quite of bit of Drops in TX to Hispanics. Most of our carriers have Spanish language Brochures and apps.

It works out that all my agents are bi-lingual and fluent in Spanish in TX. Great clientele. Worth learning the language. Spanish is considered the easiest second language to learn.

OLA

I took 7 years of Spanish between high school and college. All I can remember in Spanish is, "Where is the bathroom?" And "The cat is in the library." Or I can do combinations of those phrase. Such as, "Where is the cat in the library?" Neither one of these phrases will be particularly useful in FE sales.:goofy:

It is a language of love, raw sex and passion.....use that and learn...you will remember.

Stay thirsty my friends......

It kills me when I hear it is an easy 2nd language to learn. Yeah maybe if your first language was Itailian. I took 4 semesters at university and I can barely use it. Oh and TwiLight its Hola I do remember that much.lol

But on to the bigger question does this demographic buy FE? If so in what numbers. It has been my experience they don't buy insurance unless you threaten to throw them in jail and even then some still decline:D

Hispanics usually have nicer homes, have a better referral network, go to church and are likely Catholic, which means either a burial or a trip back home and a burial.
I learned about Settlers the hard way, told them they need a Spanish PHI option if they want some Westside Cleveland business (love hearing all the roosters crow when driving through the neighborhoods).

I had an on again/off again relationship with a Puerto Rican girl for 6 or 7 years. I never learned any real Spanish but I picked up a few nice curse words. Boy that woman had a temper. :twitchy:

And still does.... ;)

Yeah, much less likely to cremate grandma. Will spend a bit more on funerals and definitely do not want their kids to be burdened with the funeral cost. In my case fewer lapses or policy loans and no cat pee couches. A fair amount of the sales are to kids on the life of the parents or grandparents. Which of course opens up selling them and the in laws which opens up that family and in laws........

This is based mostly on my experience in California and Texas. Different areas may be different.
