They will go lower if you ask and will sell tele leads at at $20 each - getting my first back of tele leads this week. Had difficulty getting lead volume through DM as well as a few other issues that were not necessarily EFES fault.

Kansas State all the way! However, I'm not sold on Bruce Weber...I was a Frank Martin guy, and don't think Bruce can get the job done...As much as I hate KU, gotta give them credit...They are a machine, and are about 9 men deep...They will make another final four run again...
They give you the option to just pay $400 per 1000 mailing
take that option. That is the only way you will come out.
Take the 100% commission.
Let me know how that goes?? I was gung ho on trying those, but now they are saying its best to door knock those, and Im trying to turn my business from 70/30 Doorknocking/Appts to 70/30 Appts/DK ratio....so Im not so sure I want those now!
^^This is bad advice. Only an *** would take 100% commissions and pay for their own mail too.

"They" are saying it's best to doorknock them. Travis said that's been his experience. When I worked them I called.
If I work some more I will call and set appointments just as I do with the mail lead.
Plus you will pay whatever your PPL price is for those leads unless your PPL is over $20. Then you only pay $20.
The good things about the new lead; they definately have a phone number that been verified. They definately are at that address. They have a bank account. They have been given your name as the person that will contact them. They know it's about life insurance. You can listen to the call and know who you are going to see and can get a read on how much they understand.
The bad things about the new lead; They are non responders to the mail. For me I want to be the one that makes first contact with the prospect, {many agents don't like that so what I see as bad others will like}.
These are fairly new so we really don't know how they will play out over time. I give EFES credit for not sitting on their hands and fretting about low returns and higher mail costs.

I beg to differ...One of the things that really bothers me about this forum is the attitude of a lot of agents who think like JD does in the above statement. "Only an *** would take 100% commissions and pay for their own mail too.." I'm really hoping there is a level of sarcasm here...If so, I'll accept my cyber beating here shortly and you guys can disregard the rest of this post
100% contract and paying for your leads is a great deal for some agents...Some agents do not deserve above 100% because they still take effort to mentor and train. To mentor and train takes time and money....giving a 100% level and expecting an agent to buy leads is a good intro for them becoming independent. Becoming a fully functional independent clearly doesn't happen over night...and providing advice that "100% level is not a good deal while buying leads" is extremely poor advice to a newly indepedent agent.
Now that my rant is over....an experienced agent who does not need support at all might need to get their head checked if they think 100% contract is good after they have survived the learning curve of this business and "Made It". Good experienced independent agents deserve good strong 110+ contract levels. Experienced agents should all exceed 100% if they require no support other than maybe a lead source referral...
There isnt a single person on this forum who didn't get help from someone at some point in their career. How would you feel if an agent told you not to accept 100% and that you deserved higher?....and you listened....and now all of a sudden you are stuck swimming against the current because your upline cant justify the expense to train you because your commission level is too high....oh and maybe you are also now stuck with an upline who wont release you and you're handcuffed for at least 6 more months. I'm sure this sounds familiar to some people, because I hear this consistently from agents.
There is one flaw in your thinking. I didn't say taking 100% contracts and paying for leads was idiotic. I said taking 100% contracts and paying for mail was idiotic.
If you are going to pay for your own mail you would be an *** to settle for 100% contracts. No reason to not have 115% with most, 120% with many and 125% with some.
No training or support involved when you take all the risk yourself. Why would anyone assume all the risk themselves and still only get 100%?
I agree with you if there is NO support or training provided, 100% is a low contract. As I said in my post, 100% is a very fair level for a NEW INDEPENDENT AGENT if they are receiving a strong support/training system to get them on their feet. Once they have a strong understanding they can justify demanding the higher levels because they are not dependant on a mentor, training, support, etc...
The point I am making is a new independent shouldn't assume 100% is a bad contract and they definitely shouldn't be coined as an "***"...They may very well see the support system as valuable and thats what they personally need to be successful.
And to your point about assuming the risk...guess what...becoming an independent is largely risk management...so all new agents should look at the opportunity outside of just the commission level. There is much more to risk management than just simply the ratio of direct mail costs to commision levels.
***If you are a new independent, rule of thumb is that the more commission you ask for, the less support you will get. If you are new to becoming independent, then you should still put your time in learning the process...once you perfect it and have some proven success, then you should absolutely leverage that to get yourself a higher commission to justify your expenses and low need for support. Being smart and relying on a support system does not make you an ***...
***Thinking you can get the support/training necessary for a top level 125% would be a very poor decision.
****FOLLOW UP******
EMailed EFES Sunday evening, STILL have not heard from anyone. I took the name "Travis"--no last name-and tried to call EFES. There is only one number on their site-and it goes into some long recording and prompts it took me forever to get out of.
Finally got someone and asked for Travis--she never heard of Travis
SO WHO THE HELL IS TRAVIS???
It SOUNDS like EFES is a good deal but---GOOD LORD how screwed up this is!
HELP!
