Exchange Application Demo / Videos

Actually, those of us who sell disability insurance and higher benefit life insurance have gathered copies of tax returns and financial statements quite often because they are required for the application. The authorization form is simple. My husband is an accountant and he gets requests for copies of the tax return a lot - for mortgage loans, scholarship applications, etc. So long as the client signs an authorization (and you don't fraudulently misuse the data), it's fine.

I'll tell you straight up, this ain't going to work with the majority of people looking online for health insurance quotes.

As soon as you ask shaniqua about her tax return, she is going to yell at you and then you will hear a click...

And then let's look at the time invested with each client, right now, the avg perm on an internet leads, if you dont filter your leads for currently insured, no pre ex, min of 2 people on the lead, is about 250/mo, if ur really unlucky, 200/mo, @ 10% commission, thats about $300 commish/yr, figure 20% for COA, your at $240/yr.

Now my point is this, health apps now are pretty simple and fast compared to this crap, you can knock out the app on a healthy person in 10 minutes or less, or if u sell humana do a phone app and hang up and call ur next lead....

my friends who are big volume health producers, have assistants who write the apps, so they can get back to pitching, with this garbage, if the app process stays as is, will mean the dreams of indy health agents writing a crap load of biz because of GI, is flushed down the drain..

I know. An agent is doomed if they buy leads and don't have a solid current book of business with lots of good referrals. I haven't bought leads in 20+ years.

About the tax return, I was referring to current clients who already know and trust us. I actually agree with you about your Saniqua example. Like I said about the video - people will get scared when they are asked for this level of financial disclosure.

I'm sure that lots of health agents won't see a future in this upcoming market. There's wisdom in the decision to change fields, if that is what the agent feels is best for him/her. To stay in this field you need a solid book of current business, some assets or alternate income to make it through about 6 months with little or no commission, quite a bit of experience, a system for processing a volume of apps fast, and a willingness to do it. Otherwise, selling another type of insurance or changing careers is a smart move.

what happened to that 2 page app with no medical questions

It is in the works.

Along with the post card 1040 . . .

used an example of "William in Arizona".....wonder if they did that on purpose?

You are not paranoid if they really ARE plotting against you.

Agents planning to sell in the new market should familiarize themselves with tax returns and where to find the correct data.

Nope.

If you are certified to sell on the exchange you will also have US Treasury clearance to view income info.

How many folks do you think will have their 1040?

Most of my clients can't even tell me all the meds they are taking.

Not sure I like some of the potential navigators having access to all that information. Heck, I'm not sure I like some of the licensed agents who have gone through testing and background checks having access to that information.

As I understand it, agents wont see actual income or tax data, only the relevant information for the 21 page application . . .

Its called administrative assistants ..I have two of them now both licensed as well. I pay them a salary and give them a bone from time to time. I'm looking into hiring temps during the enrollment period to help with the work load. The simple fact that we can assist with the subsidized plans is HUGE and I'm terribly excited about 2014. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

You will need more than Kool Aid. A crash course from H&R Block will come in handy to fill out the Alibamacare insurance application.
