False Insurance Information

If you don't have full coverage, then you have to do the leg work. Didn't the police write down his drivers license information. name address, start there.

File the claim thru your insurance company (as long as you have collision coverage) and let them handle it, the owner of the vehicle is responsible for any liability that occurs with his vehicle, unless the vehicle was stolen. Now your insurance company may register it as a "Non at fault claim" it still counts against you but not as bad, yet they can still cancel you down the line or surcharge you premium. Good Luck.

Depends on the company. In my experience, not at-fault claims don't hurt you with the current company you're with. If I'm shopping a rate for a client with another company, it depends. It is something to think about though.

I totally agree with Michael.

We discovered the other driver's insurance when they came to pick up his vehicle at the auto pound. His insurer has assumed all liability. My attorney is suing the driver for lost wages, medical, and pain and suffering.

What makes them assume the liability so fast? Didnt the other guy said he had a green light? Or did the witnesses already talk with the insurance carrier?
