Farmers Insurance Reserve Agent Program

Hello everyone,

I said that I would keep everyone updated on my farmers insurance contract. It has been about 2-3 months on the contract and all is going GREAT. Just signed the career contract 2 weeks ago. So far for April I have 57 P&C and 6 Life policies.

Anyway thats all the necessary info. Just wanted to prove a point that not everyone fails at the things they do. :)

Heck I applaud you for even getting the p&c license I tried twice to study for it and kept falling asleep at inland marine insurance, talk about snooze fest.

So, honestly, tell us how many of your friends and family did you write?

Seriously? You came back on this thread just to do that? It makes me really pissed that we both work for farmers. Its a shame that people like you are out there affecting our brand..

Huh? What????????????

Everything about this post cracks me up. No one company, nor any one situation, is for everyone. I agree with the person that basically said if you can fog a mirror you qualify to be a Farmers Insurance agent...that much is true and it burns me to the core because it does de-value the process. However, it's been a good deal for me. I started out as a producer in another agent owner's office to see what it would be like. I also worked on the back office end of things to know what you need to find in a good assistant. THEN I opened my own agency. I've been at it for a year, have met every goal without writing family members and robbing Peter to pay Paul. I am "running to daylight", which in our world means we are meeting all of the quotas necessary to have our subsidy waived. So far, I owe Farmers nothing but yes, if I fall asleep at the wheel then I will owe them money back at the end of my second year.

To the person that said Farmers is 30-40% higher in premiums than the competitor, that might be true in your area of the country, but not here (so far). I realize all things are subject to ebb and flow, but just because Farmers rates are keeping you from selling where YOU live, doesn't mean it's like that for everyone.

Yes, check rates before you sign a contract. Know how much you have to pay back before you sign a contract. Know what you're committing to before you sign a contract.

We're all adults and this is no different than anything else. Only YOU have control of YOUR destiny and own unique situation.

My friend met all of the quotas and even won some awards. He did everything Farmers said. His wife pounded the phone with cold calls. His problem was after making all the quotas and winning awards seven years in he was about to starve to death. He went INDY and never looked back.

One reason I quit Farmers, was for 6 STRAIGHT quarters, they raised rates 5.5% EACH QUARTER, try explaining to your clients that your renwal went up 33%?

Are you also aware that Zurich owns Farmers, and last year, Farmers paid zurich a "management fee" in excess of $3 billion........Farmers will ALWAYS raise rates to survive, they will go under sooner or later, in my state, its not uncommon for me to save a Farmers client nearly HALF of what they are currently paying.....

But you are correct, states will vary.

I always wonder, don't indy agents have to spend a TON of their own money? I think about indy a lot....always have.

What would we have to spend that is different? Actually the companies do help you more than FIG does, and as an IA, we dont have the stupid meetings Farmers make you go to and all their stypid programs that dont work and only cost you money.....

Honestly, I cant believe the amount of HELP the IA carriers give you......
