FE Cold Calling Script

I am new to FE and I have more time than money to get started with. I found the door to door survey thread in the cold calling section and what a gold mine of info that is. I read through it and picked out bits and pieces and put together a door knocking script and went out to try it. I want to thank "Newby" and "Funeraldirector" I used parts of their posts for my spiel.
In the last week, I have knocked on 220 doors off of a list and have made 4 sales. It is time consuming and a lot of work, but it does work. If I can keep this up for a couple weeks I will have the cash to put in some lead orders.
Here is my door knocking script. I would like to know what you FE veterans think of it? {go easy on me now!}

Hi Mrs. Jones, My name is Joe Smith, I'm the local Independent Insurance agent.for Smith County. The companies I represent specialize in helping folks in the senior market who would like to have some additional life insurance coverage to pay for their final expenses, so it won't be a burden on their family.

Then I ask one of the three questions:
would that be of interest to you or anyone in your household?
Do you feel you have enough life insurance coverage?
Have you taken care of your final expenses?

This is what I have said at every door to get a conversation going and go from there.

Last question is- May I come in?

maybe this can help another newbie like myself generate some business.

Sounds like u may have something there....I dont do cold door knocking, but I just wanted to say congrats for not letting anyone or anything stop you!

2 questions....take away the time it took u to do the 4 sales, how much time did it take u to knock on 220 doors??

And did u just randomly door knock or try to pick an area where the % of seniors is high in that area, like mobile home parks?

Good Luck to you!

It took me 6 days to knock 220 doors. My goal is to knock on 50 a day,but I didn't get to that number. I am out on the streets an average of 6 hours a day.

I use a list of seniors, so I know what houses to knock on in the area. I also feel it helps me to have the persons name when i knock on the door

so do you bypass mobile home parks or apartment buildings? 4 sales off of door knocking ain't bad for a weeks worth of work. When do you start, 9, 10, 11am?
40 hour work week looks like close to $2,500 in commission using avg's. Good for you!

Ooohh, so u weren't just knocking every door u had a list....so it was more like knock & drive to next house, knock & drive??

TDF I just saw a Spanish presentation for FE at the superstar site, I figured since you were in Cali, brushing up on your spanish could be a good thing....

Umm, yeah I dont think so....1 would need to be VERY fluent in Spanish to be able to do that! All I kow are basic words & curse words from my car selling days!

Curious what % of knocks result in someone answering the door...?
[unscientifically; 1 out of 2, 1 out of 3, etc]
Also, out of at the door discussion that do not result in your entering the house, are there any call-back's or a chance for a sit at some point in the future...?
Your numbers seem pretty good... and frankly [and don't take this in a bad way] you are hitting them right between the eyes with your purpose of the call w/o any warm-up or other window dressing [it seems]. Once you learn how to work the door somewhat better and develop a more crafted presentation of questioning your numbers should go up, IMO. Or maybe this just takes more time and you get to fewer knocks; hard to say. The main element is that you are 'out there doing it' and this will result in some business as you can see.

I was with a Puerto Rican girl for 4 years and never learned a thing with the exception of learning how to say "Oh, God" in Spanish. :D
