FE Death Claim Not Paid

Believe me...there's no way you would be able to force them to pay anything if they don't want to. That being said, you can definitely be the squeaky wheel and light a fire under their butts to get this taken care of.

Not so sure its my job to enforce payment of a death claim. If it is, I may not want to continue in life insurance sales.

You wrote it not me, all I was saying is YES IT IS YOUR JOB.

And yes it is WORK.

Sorry

** Keep in mind they do deserve the check OR the decline in a timely matter, I understand your not the one that writes the check but your their contact at the company.

Do you beleive your job ended with your first commission check? Did you help your client with the DC paper work? Yes, it is your job to help your client follow up on this claim till it is paid.

by the way, naming the company will have zero effect on them paying the claim or not.

Oh and helping with a death claim is a great way to write more insurance.

after 11 months. Client made a couple payments and died.
Beneficiary has done due diligence. Co. tells me they are still just checking things.
Whats your experience? Have you seen one go this long? Longer?

Eternity is way too long to be wrong.

11 months!:skeptical: What are they checking, the family-tree back 3-4 generations? I've never had a life claim, that was contestable, take over 2-3 months and I've been in the business since Labor Day, 1984.

Yes...it takes time to APS doctors offices, but something about this case just doesn't sound right. The interest they would owe may amount to hundreds or thousands of dollars, depending on the death benefit.

It shouldn't take 11 months. I wouldn't be putting anymore business with the company. I'd be calling the company every week. What is the status...what are they needing that they don't have?:swoon:

I never said anything about liking it or not liking it. I do believe I mentioned that I have been checking status on the claim.
Forcing a life insurance company to pay a death claim is NOT what I will attempt to do. If YOU want to pursue that line of work, knock your lights out.
Thanks for reminding me what work is. Now, I have a better understanding of how to support myself..

I think you should be calling and be asking what exactly are they checking into. You need to be sticking up for your client. You were happy when they decided to trust you and sign that contract. Now they need help and you aren't there for them. That's shady man. I know it's not your job but at least put forth an honest effort and actually care about your client. If there's no foul play on the app, they need to be paid. Don't let it consume all of your time but I think calling once per week would be a nice move. If I were in your shoes, I'd actually feel bad. For you to say that you never said anything about liking it or not liking it...that's a shame. If that makes you sleep better at night...Don't expect any referrals from that family. If you went to bat for them and got the darn thing paid, they'd love you for life and possibly spread the good news about the incredible agent who was there for them when they needed him.

Just my two cents. No change needed.

How will that solve eveything?

If the bene. or bene.'s attorney contacts the DOI about not paying the claim after so much time I believe the DOI will send a letter to the Ins. Co. about this matter. Most Ins. Co.'s want to keep the DOI out of their hair. And if there are other complaints of not paying claims in a timely fashion concerning this same Ins. Co. then the DOI will be even more interested in investigating the late paying of claims.

I didn't suggest you "force" anything. Doesn't seem you can force anything in your life.

If that were my client I'd be on the damn phone once or twice a day. I'd make it my living cause. THAT IS YOUR JOB. You are their agent... work for it.

Jeebus man, I'm starting to see a habit of laziness and WIIFM.

Won't study.
Bitches about getting paid quickly.
Wants a list of the companies that pay comm checks the quickest... not a list of what cos are best for the clients.
Now you won't bash heads at the company for not paying a death claim... ain't the death claim what you sold the policy for? So it would be there when they needed it? YOU are part of that equation.

My suggestion: GET OUT OF THIS BUS.

You just moved in the same category as Yoda as far as I'm concerned.
