FE Death Claim Not Paid

Just found out that it should be finalized this month. Also, my time line was off. The co was'nt notified until Oct. So really its going to end up being about 4 mos, which looks like it may fall in line with being acceptable.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

Now I'm really scratching my head....the company wasn't notified until October...that's 4 months vs. what you said of 11 months.

O....kay. Maybe you need a vacation?:goofy:

Actually maybe I do. The policy was written about 11 mos ago. Death occured in June . Co not notified until Oct. Payment not made as of today.
Pretty confusing. Sorry bout that, but as a new agent I would have thought there would have been immediate payment.
Anyway, thanks again.

Died in June...notified in October.:twitchy:

Plus, there's a 2 year contestable period on life insurance. Anytime someone dies within 2 years of the effective date, the company will verify the insured actually qualified by APS'ing their doctors.

An uncontestable death claim usually takes 20 to 30 days AFTER the company recieves a claim form and a certified death certificate. In some states it takes 30-days on average to get certified death certificates.

Policies over 2-years old or deathes that have been ruled accidental are uncontestable.

I have seen coroners hold up a cause of death for 2-months or longer after an autoposy. Then when the cause of death was decided, the state of Kentucky took another month to issue the certified death certificate. Then I filled the insurance claim form out with the widow and sent it to the insurance company. In this case the insurance company paid promptly (within 10-days) but she still went over 3-months after the death of her husband (a doctor) with no insurance benefits.

I wonder if the bene. and bene.'s attorney could come after the agent?

Of course they can, but i am sure there is more to this story then he's telling.

How far out of loop do you have to be to have NO answers 11mos later.

At this point if I had to guess he's probably to embarrassed to even face the customer (just a hunch).

The story has been amended to 4 mos. Still, at the 45 day line "THAT" claim gets almost daily attention.
