FE Marketing Ideas

If you have 20 agents mailing in the same area what happens...the law of diminishing returns....I know plenty of very good salesmen that went on to do other sales due to the BS quality of leads.

Also I think I should mention a friend by the last name of Simadoroff who worked the FE market running direct mail leads in the 80s and 90s. He had a very pronounced accent and was working the rural south.. He made and exceptional living for years running DM leads. This was in the day before GPS and he would go to the post office to get directions to the homes. Running leads in those days took a lot more work than today. But, for the agent who would work, leads worked.

The EFES folks would tend to disagree with you.. especially JDeasy. They have been doing it profitably for years.

I'm sure JD has seen some very good salesmen leave the business and go on to be very successful in other sales. For every one JD there are hundreds that didn't last.

Yes, but that applies to every phase of the business .. Not just the agents that use leads as their primary means fo prospecting..

I like the idea of the letter being sent out to my current book of business. I wrote up a letter asking for referrals. Would anyone mind reading it, and critiquing?

Good letter overall, and I agree with the prior suggestion that "5-10" may sound like too many... but most importantly, I believe Florida law prohibits giving referral gifts based on the referral signing up for a policy (?). If you're willing to offer a gift based on how many names/numbers they give you, that's different... but telling people "I'll give you a gas card (or $10 or whatever) for every new client you get me" probably doesn't fly with the FL DOI.
