FE Policy for Incarcerated ?

There is always the Preneed funeral insurance option. The parents can take one of those plans out on him and don't need his signature or even his knowledge.

Re: Incarcerated

NO, you cannot go write him, face to face in an Ohio prison facility. ODRC will not let you OR his parents walk into a prison with a pen, paper, or anything else you would expect to have when writing a life ins application. Do yourself a favor, call the prison where he is located and ask them how you can just walk in and write that app? You will learn real fast what the protocol is.

You could give the appl to his Atty and the Atty could take it to him to get it signed. You could mail the application to him but something as complex as a life ins appl with all the jargon on the apps may not make it through the screening process.

It is possible to do but not going to be as simple as you think.

Just because it's not simple doesn't mean it's not worth doing. A new agent might just have the time. Servicing your clients who asked you to do it is a worthy cause. Get it done and it may mean appreciative referrals from the extended family who are impressed. Whats so complex about a FE ap anyway?

Start with companies that don't do a PHI. Mail might be an option. Going with GI and no medical question might be needed. If nothing else refer him to MOO direct. They may decide it's too expensive.

Re: Incarcerated

Doubtful that MoO accepts collect calls from prisons?

Probably the best option here was mentioned by Newby, PreNeed.

Collect?? You are older then I thought. LOL
MOO uses a toll-free number. Only number I have seen published and the one I give out when I refer MOO direct.

I agree. Put yourself in the customers shoes and treat them the way you would like to be treated. If you get the case, you've made a friend and a sale. If you can't help them you at worst lost a sale but made a friend because you gave them an honest effort to help them. Opportunities like these might not have huge returns at first, and maybe never, but they can lead to other opportunities in the future............... In addition, the next time someone needs help in a similar case you can give expert advise!

All calls from prisoners are collect.

If that doesn't get them, MOO will probably balk when they are told the prison is recording the call. It seems insurance companies like to record you, but they don't like you to record them.

Yes, I am older than you thought... BUT, any call made from a prison, whether to an 800 # or not utilizes the system like a collect call, meaning a recipient has to authorize the call by pushing certain buttons to accept the call and acknowledge that it is from an inmate. The geniuses who are in the joint have figured out every way in the world to scam the system in the past, so therefore EVERY call is made in exactly this manner, foolproof, even if they were calling across the street and it was a local call. Also, max call of 15 mins.

The system is also monitored to eliminate inmates from buying FE ins... :D
